You'd think that I'd have a better idea on where to start here... seeing that I've dealt with my own depression while my husband tried to support me. Though all I could seem to do was push him away, which created many of the issues we have been trying to work out more recently.

Problem is, he's been burning the candle at both ends for a while now, stressed to the max, and now HE is depressed :( He is so suffering so, and I am confused as what what I can do to support him through this since he can't really tell me what he needs because his head is so mixed up right now.

We can't move forward with fixing our relationship issues until the depression is addressed. I know a professional work up would be ideal, but he's just not at that point right now...

I read about depression a lot on the internet. Search; There are many sites which will help you and tell you what to do to support or if you, yourself are struggling.

And there are forums for depression too.

If what your husband did for you was helpful, try do what he did for you.

All I can say is don't take it personally when they push you away.

It's best to go to a professional and seek help. But in the meantime reading about it will also help.

Read lists of things to say and things not to say to a depressed person. The not to say list is he most important - something that you mean to be encouraging can send him into the deep end.

Try to fill in for the things he can't do around the house that he'd usually he doing.

Don't let him go to sleep late. Try to get him in bed as early as he can. Lack of sleep makes things worse.
