Interesting song by Gotye, Somebody that I used to know. What does it mean. I don't really understand all of the lyrics.

Hm... I don't think it's clear...? I think the break-up was mutual... but she wanted NC..

God this song was my Ex's favorite -- should have been a pretty clear red flag, right?

 

I actually believe that there is a twist at the end of this song that changes the meaning. The girl in the song is leaving him because he is still hung up on the girl from the relationship just prior.

 

He is one of those people who just can't let it go, so ironically it results in another failed relationship. He essentially collects ex's.

 

Never thought I would be living this damn song...
