TroyNJ Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 It's been two years since she left (she cheated), we were married for 16 years and I loved her dearly. I'm still sad every damn day. I just don't understand, why can't I get past a woman who cheated and ruined my life? I've been to therapy, took anti-depressents etc. I just can't find my way back to happiness. Has anyone been sad for this long? Any ideas???
Sav Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 I would like to think that it's a self esteem issue. Pick something up, a new hobby, work out, reading. Change your outlook of life. Don't place your entire world in the hands of someone else.
Balzac Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 IF your core belief is that you somehow failed her, thus justification for her cheating exists. OR you cannot forgive her AND any personal shortcomings in yourself, agony persists. Forgiveness does not mean forgetting. Does not mean wish for her return. Forgiving is for you.

I hardly think 2 years is going to cure your pain, especially since she left. You are still in love with her and miss the idea of her as well. Start doing something for yourself. Join a gym, do something involving nature. I adopted a dog. Maybe change the look of your home. Above all, don't rush it. It will take time and you have to let time do its job.
Mr Scorpio Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I've been to therapy, took anti-depressents etc. I just can't find my way back to happiness. Has anyone been sad for this long? Any ideas??? Yep. Two years since the second breakup. Four years since the first. Therapy and anti-depressants have bounced off. Exercise and working towards a goal work better.
skydiveaddict Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 (edited) Has anyone been sad for this long? Any ideas??? Yes, I have. I don't think people respond with the same timeline. Healing can take a long time. At least it did for Edited September 18, 2012 by skydiveaddict
