Is he interested?

I met this guy in my university 3 weeks ago. He is 4 years my senior. I'm currently a freshmen while he is finishing up his 5th year. I sat next to him in a basketball game and we didn't communicate at all. But the next week, I see him sitting in the cafeteria so I went over to say hi and stuff. He was being friendly and doesn't seem to be annoyed by me. I haven't seen him but the next time I saw him, he is work studying in the general store outside my dorm. He smiled and seemed to recognize me. I did went up and say hi and stuff to him when I paid for my food. I felt like I was always the one initiating the conversations. Sometimes when I buy my food (I‘m always with my room mate) I saw him and he will smile really nicely and say hi and stuff. The thing, though, is I will ask him a lot of things I don't know about the university just to talk to him. I don't know if he felt annoyed by that, but he seemed alright with it. He did ask me to try looking up information online and he said that "your the most questionable freshmen I ever know" something along those lines. He smiles when he say that so I don't know if he feels annoyed by me. He doesn't seem annoyed and even tried to help me. Although, it might be because he is just a very friendly personal overall. He might not just not want to reject my requests. I didn't ask him a lot of times, just one time for directions and two time about what is a good place to eat and such. Each time, he went out of the store and point the directions for me. My roommate knows that I am interested and she was like "Why don't you show us?" and he was like "Sure, come back at 6“. So we went to get chill at another friend's dorm and came back at 5:54. The lady in the front desk was like "He already left." So I went back to my dorm and my roommate was like he does not like you and stuff. If he likes you, he will have waited and told you. He left like 5 minutes ago btw, so he could have came by and told me. Anyways, I asked him the day after and he didn't even apologize. He just told me something came up and he had to leave. I didn't mind so I kept talking to him. Now I am wondering if he is interested. He knows my class schedule because I always grab food at this fast food place beforehand. My class starts at 6:30 and he gets off work at 6. He know that he can find me at that fast food place but he never come find me. I don't think he is interested but he seems really nice, talkative and he lives to joke around too. But sometimes I just feel like he is just doing that because I am initiating the conversations first. Should I give up trying to talk to this guy? There are some other cute guys in my dorm and I feel that I should not be tied around this guy, but he is really cute.

He doesn't seem very interested. Your friend was right. If he was, he would have waited for you to come back. If you really like him and you feel like you have the guts to do it, tell him and see what happens. No big deal. He might just decide to give it a try and ask you out. If you don't feel like he's worth it, then let it be. Like you said there are other cute guys around.
