threebyfate Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 POLL: DO MODERN WOMEN STILL BELIEVE IN MATE FOR LIFE? YES or NO and why?Of course not. We marry men, drop a couple of kids, divorce him taking 50% of this stuff and make him pay alimony and child support so we can live the leisurely lives we're accustomed to.
Mme. Chaucer Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Of course not. We marry men, drop a couple of kids, divorce him taking 50% of this stuff and make him pay alimony and child support so we can live the leisurely lives we're accustomed to. Yup. That's us "modern gals" for you. 1
Silly_Girl Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Of course not. We marry men, drop a couple of kids, divorce him taking 50% of this stuff and make him pay alimony and child support so we can live the leisurely lives we're accustomed to. The stuff of dreams... I'm missing out 1
threebyfate Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Yup. That's us "modern gals" for you.Just dropped my second one. Looks like divorce is on the horizon in the next year! *sings off-tune while staring vacantly into the distance, gently running whetstone over dagger*
Mme. Chaucer Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Just dropped my second one. Looks like divorce is on the horizon in the next year! Yeah. Because "modern gals" approach marriage as "more of a temporary rental deal until it gets boring or a better offer comes along." Right.
threebyfate Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Yeah. Because "modern gals" approach marriage as "more of a temporary rental deal until it gets boring or a better offer comes along." Right.A better offer always comes along and with child support and alimony under our belts, why not live it up with the better offer?
bac Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 POLL: DO MODERN WOMEN STILL BELIEVE IN MATE FOR LIFE? YES or NO and why? Yes. But, you should explain what do you mean as a mate for life. Do you mean that he is the only sexual partner for the whole life? Do you mean that he is my final choice/my husband after I have dated about 100 partners? 1
LittlePrince Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 "...been married to him for 60 years... maybe not always love, but we endured" POLL: DO MODERN WOMEN STILL BELIEVE IN MATE FOR LIFE? YES or NO and why? In the past, the marriage ceremony used to say "till death do us part", meaning a pledge to stay together through thick and thin, work it out, fix it, compromise and work at making it work. Now, in our fast food, trade up world, is it more of a temporary rental deal until it gets boring or a better offer comes along? Is the old way "dated" and socially evolving away? If mate for life is a new flavor of haagen dazs then yes.
LittlePrince Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Yes. But, you should explain what do you mean as a mate for life. Do you mean that he is the only sexual partner for the whole life? Do you mean that he is my final choice/my husband after I have dated about 100 partners? 100 partners is not nearly enough to make an informed decision.

BetheButterfly Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 "...been married to him for 60 years... maybe not always love, but we endured" I know what wwjd means, but what does wwwjd mean? Just curious POLL: DO MODERN WOMEN STILL BELIEVE IN MATE FOR LIFE? YES or NO and why? It's impossible to answer this question with the a simple yes or no. The reason is because "modern women" are extremely diverse. Some do still believe in mating for life. I do, even when I divorced. I just didn't want to "mate for life" with my ex-husband, due to issues we had. However, I have been married for a year to a wonderful husband who loves me and who I love; I very much hope that we mate for life!!! There are still women who desire to be mated for life to one person. Sometimes however, it doesn't work out. Now, I do think that it's more common now for people to just simply give up too soon. However, divorcing has also helped people (both men and women) to find their true mate for life in some cases. For many women, the idea of having a wonderful mate for life is very appealing. For some men, the idea is appealing too, especially when they don't like to "share." My husband has no desire whatsoever to "share" me with any other male, and I am very happy about that!!!
Author wwwjd Posted September 19, 2012 Author Posted September 19, 2012 I think she got 15 from your above post. 6 yes + 9 no = 15. 6/15 = .40 AAAARH, Matey! Me math... .she sucks! And I was tired from all the swashbuckling and pilleging I do ashore. Thanks for the fix up. So I was right? Less than 50% hahahaha I hate numbers
Author wwwjd Posted September 19, 2012 Author Posted September 19, 2012 It's impossible to answer this question with the a simple yes or no. wwwjd means wwjd was taken by some inactive schmuck. It is impossible to answer with a simple yes or no if one chooses it to be. Me? I just say YES and that is my final answer. No fence straddling, no worry, no checking with peers, no pondering or considering, just YES. But sticking to ones convictions strongly is not profitable in today's world so it is discouraged. Indecision keeps markets wider... more stuff bought. Anyway.... TO ME, it is VERY simple to answer YES this is what I believe or NO it is not. But that is not for everyone.

But that is not for everyone. Was the poll question, "Do you believe in mating for life?" or "DO MODERN WOMEN STILL BELIEVE IN MATE FOR LIFE?" I am not modern women. I am one modern woman, in that I live in this modern day, but I cannot speak for every modern women. Modern women are diverse. However, as 1 modern woman, I do believe in mating for life with mutual love, respect, faithfulness, and goals with my husband.
