Hi, I was hoping someone at Loveshack would be able to help me identify the kind of music I want to buy and maybe suggest some titles. I know what it sounds kike but have no labels to attach to it. I can describe it as classical I guess but not really in the sense of Beethoven or the like.

I'm talking about orchestral music that's romantic and stirring and could aslo probably be contemporary. Anyway, I like music that has strong melodies, without a whole lot of crashing and booming, perahps like a waltz but not so dated.

Anyway, despite my poor description i hope someone might have a bit of advice for me. I'm getting so, so tired of top forty of any genre. Thanks.

Try instrumental or symphony areas in your music store. Soundtracks can also offer similar music.

ooooohhhhh ... Andrea Bocelli! he's pretty romantic, has a classic voice and the music is really, really good, IMHO.

soundtracks are pretty good, as well; think about stuff by the 3 tenors, too.

Lord of the Rings Soundtrack- gorgeous

For something more modern- try Evanesence (damn I know that is spelled wrong :( ) or Bjork

Keiko Matsui...utterly beautiful music. The more recent instrumentals (I think she was finding her groove in some of the early stuff :) )

There is a CD called "Classical Music for People Who Hate Classical Music" and it is fantastic. Also, there is a CD with the songs from past Olympic games---absolutly great!

Oh!!, and Maurice Ravel including Bolero (love this one), Miroirs, Ma Mere L'Oye, Rapsodie espagnole, Sheherazade, La Valse, Le tombeau de Couperin, Pavane pour une Infante ...

The Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra is good, so is the Boston Pops.

The Dallas Wind Symphony plays an arrangement of the 'Capriccio Italien' by Tchaikovsky that is very good.

Go with Ravel's Bolero---that is a classic.

You might enjoy some old Neil Diamond music (He's one of my favorites)

Oh man, I need to go home and dig out some more CD's to bring to work!

If you have a Half Price Books store near you check there--they get a lot of CDs in and I've found some good music there at dirt-cheap prices.

PS: When I first glanced at the thread titles, I thought yours read "Need help choosing a maniac"
