My girlfriend and I of 2-year broke up. She's told me that she would love to see us get back together after she figures things out but she just needs her space.

No contact is very difficult, but I finally gave her...a day. :( Then I broke. I heard she was sick and put together a care package for her that I was going to put into her car, I told her I was going to do so and she said thanks.

When I went by her work her car was gone, I called her and said I'll meet her at where she is staying but she told me that she doesn't feel like I'm respecting her request for space.

So what is space and why is it needed?

Why is she needing space, what will she acquire from this?

ok my wife and i are in this situation but not the no contact thing cause we have a son and vehicle issues i have to take her from and to work. space is needed to find out what they really need in life love or what they find there life is missing u must give her space its the only truly way to find out what her intentions are i know its hard but its even harder having to see her every single day like i do and know she wont be going home with u so always remember it could always be worse :)

I see.

It's just confusing when she says she wants to see us back together, wants to give us another chance, has hope for us, just with time and after we both make changes.

I asked her does space mean no contact. And she said "Yes. Just for a couple days"

Space is something people need when they don't want to be around you. If they are really into you, they would want to be around you all the time. When they aren't into you, they get tired of being around you.

Usually this is done to get you and them used to not being around each ther with the intention of completely breaking up.

When she said she wanted space and you put together the care package, you were doing the opposite of what she wanted.

It's the final frontier...

I suspect that she is feeling claustrophobic and needs time away from you so that she can "breathe" and think more clearly.

Ignore the breadcrumbs she's giving you about wanting to get back together. Focus on sorting out your emotions and getting on with your life without her. If she really wanted to be with you, she'd work through the problems together. She wouldn't ask for space.

She's just not the type of girl to say things she doesn't mean or lead people on. She said she wants to eventually start over again and start small...go on little dates etc...

She wants to get drinks in a few days.

This is so confusing!

I was hesitant to come to the forums (I don't mean this in a bad way) but it's hard for everyone to see everything in perspective and from her point of view.

Jesus christ i'm sorry but if i had a nickel for every time some sad sap insists that their sweet innocent pippi long stocking ex doesn't have a selfish manipulative bone in her body...

Whatever, I get it...my girlfriend is like that too. So sweet, so good, so wonderful. Pigtails too. She's f?&king adorable!

But here's the thing. I haven't seen or spoken to my girlfriend in weeks because she went away. In her place I have the ex...

And the ex isn't the person you fell in love with. The ex is the person who fell out of love with you. And everything that comes out of her mouth that isn't complete b?ll**** must be taken with a grain of salt.

She wants space? Bull****, she wants space from you. Not from the other guy she's scoping out. You probably couldn't fit a butter knife between them IF its working out for her.

She has hope for you too? B?ll****. She has hope for the new guy and if he doesn't work out for whatever reason she has hope you will still be patiently waiting around for her.

What will she acquire from space? Possibly a clearer sense that you are the man of her dreams. But more likely she will acquire a sense of what else is out there for her. Women ask for space to explore options while keeping you on the back burner. Or at least manipulative women do. Mature women go straight to breaking up before going exploring.

Sorry, I know I'm being kinda strident and angry but I'm having a ****ty day because I miss my girlfriend. I'm stuck having to deal with my ex...

^^^^What he said. They want space from you so they can fill it with another guy. She now sees you as an option, not a priority. Yet you still see her as a priority. As much as it sucks, it's time to make her an option as well.

Yup. She has an itch and only another man can scratch it for her. She wants to explore but keep you around just in case.

Start the healing process now. Accept it's just about over. I wish you well.

I have always felt this to be the case when terms like "space" are used in BF-GF relationships..

I want to be away from you long enough so I can go out with that guy and see if it pans out and if it doesn't then I'll get back with you.

You all lack optimism. It turned out she needed space to figure out her other problems...we're back together.

Like I said, she's not that kind of girl.

and if it doesn't then I'll get back with you.

..............

By the way.. glad you are back together... things are looking up...

Until the next time when he will be back here.

Hate to say it but usually the wanting space thing is about not wanting you around so they can commit 100 percent to the person they are cheating on you with.

Honestly, if there was no OM then why not stay to work on the issues? Sad fact is the only issues they usually have is not wanting you around so they can bang another guy. Simple as that.
