I got a question in particular for the ladies here. I was wanting to send some flowers to the girl i am dating but flowers are overdone sometimes and we have only been seeing each other for like 2 months, so i have a question i found a place that does a dozen long stem cookie rosies. Basically it is boxed like a dozen roses only thing is when you open it it is a dozen assorted baked cookies that are arranged in a way like roses. So what do you guys think? Would any ladies think that is a good idea or not? Should i just go with a fruit basket or something? I just want something different than regular any advice or maybe other options?

Go for the cookie deal, that is something unique and not very common. All girls (well most) get flowers at some point or another, its the ones that are creative that get the brownie points. Hell thanx for the idea i might just have to do that myself sometime.......fruit baskets are good too, but i have sent them before and sometimes the fruit is not really what they like and its very seasonal.

are cool....but you might want to make sure she's not watching her weight. ;)

Does she work in an office? Girls LOVE to get flowers sent to them at work because it lets all of their co-workers know they've got a cool life going on outside of work.

I'm a sucker for flowers delivered to me at work...makes me feel special...but no roses - they are so overdone. My absolute favorite arrangement is the most simple.....a dozen white tulips in a clear vase with a white, gauzy bow tied around the vase....simple, elegant, classy....

Another cute arrangement I've received came with the sweetest teddy bear with it's arms wrapped around the vase....it was a small spring bouquet but so sweet....

However....if you send flowers make sure you're using a good service...there is absolutely nothing worse than receiving a "bad" flower arrangement....happened to me once....it wasn't the guys fault but the arrangment was hideous....I couldn't even keep it on my desk.

I think a fruit basket is more of an impersonal gesture...we get a lot of those from our brokers...it's more of a business type thing. :)

now since thecake has posted it becomes more interesting maybe cuz it's a lady's input :D

anyway, any meaning to tulips? Like for example, yellow is the color of friendship? Or is it a specific flower that is friendship. You think if I sent a female buddy a big giant bundle of flowers it would be taken wrongly? or do you think almost all women know from some source what flowers mean what?

curious I am :)

I'd love the cookies much more than just flowers.

Balloons. Romantic Baskets. Search the web for 'unique gifts'. I don't like the cookie bouquets----I see them all the time and if they go to her home, she might be watching her weight or not like them, if they go to her office---she might not get any!

Some things I've received:

*Those inflated balloons with 'stuff' inside---like a Teddy Bear, lingerie, doo-dads, etc.

*A coffee basket---with a romantic mug (had a heart on it) with chocolate dipped stirrers with romantic shapes (cupid, hearts, the word LOVE, etc.) and several flavors of coffee and creamer, etc.

*A beautiful tropical flower arrangement (very expensive--so be careful here) in a georgeous basket (which I still have and use)

*A giant stuffed bear with a beautiful bracelet on its arm.

*A pretty ceramic box in the shape of a claw-footed bathtub, with bath oil, lotions, and other "pamper" products

*A soft-sided cooler with camping stuff in it (including some hand lotion and one of the hand-held fans with a spray mist to keep cool) and an invitation to "share his sleeping bag" on a camping trip.

*One of those pretty vellum gift bags with gold tissue paper with a book and a nice book marker, a pen and a small blank note book in it. (This was one of my favorites because I love to read)

*A similar gift bag, but tall and narrow, with tickets to a movie and a gift certificate to a spa, and one beautiful yellow rose in a bud vase (Yellow Rose of Texas. I'm in TX)

Depending on how much you want to spend, and where you are having it delivered, you can make your own creation and hire a delivery person (or bring it yourself).

there is no meaning to tulips....they're just so pretty...simple...not overdone. I've recieved a couple of gaudy arrangements in the past...too big...too bright for an office...bigger is not always better - when it comes to flowers, that is. :D

The guy who first began sending me tulips was one of my best friends at the time....he was kind of artsy...a mad scientist/genius type of guy....he said he had to special order the white tulips....anyway, he used the same line on the cards every time he sent me flowers...."sweet, sexy, (my name)-baby"...

Flowers from anyone mean something I guess....all of my male friends have sent me flowers for one reason or another...but it means the most when it comes from a guy you're dating...at least to me.

WOW Hokey you are loved lol.

I wish I recieved more gifts I'm usually the one giving them out.

(sigh)

I need a real man lol

I am artsy...and I am mad...but I am not a genius. Come to think of it...is it artsy or fartsy that I am?

Well i have sent her flowers already before, not roses or anything just a nice summer bouquet with daisys, tulips, blah blah, so she has gotten flowers at work already from me. I just want to be different also and not send flowers all the time, i mean she works out, watches what she eats (not too much) but she also has a sweet tooth and she likes cookies so i mean i dont want her to thinking i think she likes to eat but i thought it would be cool to send her, i am sending them to her work so yea, why not, she can share with her co-workers, she does not work with many people, maybe like 4 at a time but dont you think she would feel special and happy to recieve something unique like that? When i sent her the flowers to work, her co-workers were jealous and she said she felt very happy and special but why do the same thing again. And there is no special reason why i am sending them, i am just doing it because, just spontaneous....
