2nd chance...by being friends and working back up to what we had,,,will it work?

Ok so my ex and i had a long talk this past weekend and it was time for us to have this talk as we broke up about a month and a half ago. She said she needed time and space so i gave it to her although she told me if i would have called her more after we broke up and asked to see her we probably would have gotten back together which made no sense to me cause she asked for space so go figure. I did not call her or anything i cut off contact, anyways she said she loves me, she has missed me, she is still a bit confused bcause she was not sure if we should jump right back into the relationship or take it slow. I told her we should not jump right into anything but i would be more than happy with being friends and going out more and she said we could work our way back up to what we had. I also told her if there was anyone else that she liked or was interested in then she needed to tell me, because if that is why she was confused it was not fair to me, but she said there was no one else and this is what she wanted to do is work back up. So what do you guys think? I am very excited about things as she is who i love and have been praying about to maybe get a second chance. Anyone ever go through this? How do my chances sound?

Wow, I really like how you're going about this. Not jumping into anything, just working up to it nice and slow. I think if you keep that up, your chances are pretty good. Just be sure she's the one you want to be with and vice versa. Good luck!!

Thanx, I feel if we jumped right back into things after a month and a half things would be somewhat strange and possbly could not work out, but if we take it slow and work up from there it will be maybe like falling in love all over again and of course it could go the opposite way and we could realize friendship is all we want either way i think giving it time we will both realize what we want. I am just so happy at a second chance, i have never had a second chance at love with someone that i lost, although i guess i never really tried to like i did this time. I love this girl more than i can imagine and i can not explain the way i feel for her. I tried to move on at first but could not because my heart would not let me and i realized she is what i want and i wanted to fight for it.

Once you break up, you will not get back what you had. It doesen't happen that way and it shouldn't. Hopefully if you two do get back together it will be different. After all something happened and you both broke it off.

 

In the meantime each of you should work on your own issues so that you both can be together in a healthier more loving way. Good luck!!

Damn lets be negative about things. See thats what i dont like, people that try to throw salt in your situation by saying things like that. "it wont work out", well maybe it did not for you or someone else but who is to say it wont work out for me? Yea we broke up for a reason but maybe that reason was so we could see what mistakes we were making and work on them, i have learned and am growing from the experience and of course i dont want to have exactly what we had, why would i? It did not work the first time but the second time things will be different, they cant be the same, and who is to say different wont work? The relationship could be a million times better the second time with what we have learned. Thanks for your input and yes your right we both have to work on ourselves as well because that is the only way we can have a healthier relationship, and that is something we both have done since we broke up but i am hopeful about things.........oh and please dont take this post as anything personal, its just my opinion as what you said was yours.....regardless i appreciate your input

I dont think that was implied to be a negative comment. I think the basis for that comment was justified. I think waht that person meant was that there was a reason that you broke up, needed space ect. Correct me if I am wrong but, Im sure you have had a lot of time to figure out what you could do differently if the opportunity presented itself again and it has.

 

Things will be different because they will be better. You have been patient and strong through out this entire ordaeal and that is a great thing.

 

I have been doing the no contact thing for awhile now and I actually will be going out to a movie tonight with my ex. Just as friends. I want more and I think that she wants more but, the situation is complicated. I have waited for this day since the beginning of June and can only hope that I dont say or do anything stupid.

 

Keep your headup and be positive I dont think that statement was meant to be negative.
