without Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Does comparing your new date to your ex means you're not over them? Thinking they were better maybe. Or worse.
january2011 Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Not necessarily. It depends on how far you take it. If you are constantly making comparisons, referencing your ex on a regular basis on every minor detail and there is still a lot of emotional resonance when you mention your ex, then, yes, you're probably not over your ex. If, however, (during the early days) you occasionally find yourself making a broad comparison, smiling and thinking how lucky you are to have found someone who makes you happy and you are pleased at how far you've come since your previous relationship ended, then you're probably over your ex. By all means, look back without feeling guilty, but it's best not to stare. 1

january2011 Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 They can't have been that good. Otherwise, you'd still be together. If I were you, I'd start making new memories with your new date to override the potency of your old memories with your ex. When your current life is filled to the brim with people, places and things that are very much part of your present, you're unlikely to have much head or heartspace for your ex. 3
