Why settle for only one person for the rest of our lives when we can fall in love with multiple people? Is it because of social conditioning or religion? I don't know of any other animal that stays with one partner for the rest of their lives. I understand companionship and kids, but we can have these things without committing to people in our lives. I just don't get it!

Because you'd hate life if your woman (or man) believes in the same ideologies and falls in love with someone else.

I always find these threads weird, in that if you don't believe in monogamy, there's no reason why you can't remain single or enter an open relationship.

Analogous would be deliberately flying to Alaska for a winter vacation when you hate the cold, then shaking your fist at the snow. :laugh:

If you are against monogamy then you won't get it.

Those of us who are for it like the arrangement of being with someone who is not only drop dead gorgeous, but they are fun to be with and to talk to.

Finding that connection with someone can be difficult, so there is no need to give that happiness up.

Precisely!

Different strokes for different folks, sheesh. If monogamy isn't for you... don't do it! Why the need to rail at monogamy and post reason after reason why it is 'flawed'? Monogamy isn't something like government taxes that is levied upon you in a compulsory manner. Monogamy is a choice.

I'm sorry, but that is incorrect. Penguins aren't monogamous for life. They are usually monogamous for a few seasons, and some individuals have multiple partners in a season.

A Woman needs a man who will make her smile, bring her up when she's down, know her sense of humour, and be able to make her laugh out loud with witty and amusing banter;

She needs a man who is sexually attentive, considerate, adaptable and passionate; a man who makes her feel like the most perfect and most wonderful woman he's ever made love to, and he needs to show his sexual passion for her in tiny, subtle private ways, even in public;

She needs a man who knows his way around domestic appliances, and who knows how to cook, clean and be independent, and who can share the chores in an equal, loving considerate and helpful way...

She needs a man who can hold a stimulating discussion, who can make her mind work, and whose mind is bright, receptive and open; someone with whom she can argue, but never fight, someone who can hold his own in any discussion from A-Z.

But what she needs most of all, is to make damn sure these 4 guys never meet.
