#1 quality = Love

Love for God

Love for me

Love for family

Love for friends

Love for poor people and those in need

Love for country

Love for animals

Love for nature

I married a wonderful man who has this quality. Love is action, not just a lovey-dovey feeling. My husband truly loves, which to me is the #1 quality.

Ok. I am a man and I wasn't asked, but I hope everyone who reads this will consider that the most important thing for a man to do in life is to live to protect his most deeply held ideals. Without these sorts of men, there would be no America, would would have lost WWII and we would have no constitution.

Good men recognize the need to be strong when necessary and soft when necessary. But justice must ALWAYS come before emotions and feelings and opinions.

If you vote for a man who will sacrifice everything for you or protect you at all costs. He will die protecting you. And you will be left with a world full of the other type of man.

Good luck with that. History has spoken and it is not pretty.

An honest man. That's number one.

Integrity.

This encompasses honesty to himself, to others, and to a level of philosophic ideals.

Looks like love is not only the #1 most important quality to you in a partner, but also in life.

You may or may not know this, but having that trait will serve you well in your relationships (especially in difficult times).

why should there be a one size fits all answer? i don't meet your standards but can do other things. i'm 39 and haven't been on even a single date yet so i guess the girls don't like what i'm about or i'm not good looking or i don't know what.

I never said that one size fits all. If you stand for something and let it be known (hopefully good things!) you will have a better time with the dating thing.

I just found a radio host recently - Tom Leykis. He is hillarious and brash. I do not agree with everything he says, but he has the basics right. More important than what he says is what I have seen. Odd looking men, overweight men, poor men, and all sorts of men getting dates and having succeess with women. Even these goofballs on the pickup artist thing or player websites get dates (or at least that's what they say)

This is not because they are bad, but because women perceive them to be strong. This is one of the key tricks in life.

One size does NOT fit all. You are exactly right. But there are some basics that you can fight all you want. The women worth having want you to stanf for something. To be strong and confident. This almost goes without saying.

Standing for ideals, in my opinion, is the most important thing in life.!

Don't kill the messenger and don't take my word for it. Check this out on your own.

I second this. My interpretation of integrity includes adherance to a moral and ethical standard of his own volition, along with honesty.

(The opposite of integrity, would be dishonesty and hypocrisy).

p.s. Mr. Leo Nguyen, you are quite a cutie pie, by the way! Love your look.;)

Looks like integrity and honesty are both some of the most common traits.

And thanks :)

Integrity definitely. That encompasses the most important values I look for

When a tall fit rich guy charms you I can bet you'll forget about integrity. All women are mindless slaves to instinct.

Disruptive posting reported and I have blocked you as well. why I haven't done that sooner when you have nothing valuable to contribute to anything is beyond me.

You've probably been hurt by a girl before, as we all have at some point.

But I genuinely hope you do get past this point some day or else it's going to be a long painful road ahead of you.

The thing is, I've actually seen this before.

No not really, I'm a man of pure science and nothing else. I know all there is to understand about female existence down to her atoms.

I suppose it's best to clarify that honesty with tact, guided by love, is better than honesty with no tact, guided by spite.

Honesty (with tact, guided by love) and integrity are extremely important qualities for both women and men.

If it comes along with being honest with EVERYTHING else, I will take it.

My ex used to say exactly that, but would lie about other things. That's a problem.

I would not take that, actually. Honesty without tact and a loving heart just makes for a harsh tongue.

One day I had to scold a child for calling another child fat and making her cry. His excuse, "I'm just being honest." Now, does it help the girl that this boy is honest like that? No. She just felt miserable and not beautiful.

What helps her is when people are kind to her and encourage her to exercise and eat healthy, not when people call her fat.

Honesty without tact and a caring heart can cause damage and even border on bullying and verbal abuse... some people think that calling other people stupid and dumb and ugly is "just being honest" when really it's just a disguise for putting another person down and being mean to them. :(
