FitChick Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder then. Mickey Rourke and Kim Basinger back together again.
Pyro Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 Aside from the possible fact that Kim may have gotten some or a lot of work done to enhance her looks, it varies per individual how they age. Examples such as exercise, diet, drugs, and so forth. Not a man vs. woman issue 1
brahmabull117 Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 I think men do age better because male beauty is not as dependent on looking young and flawless. Simply put, roughness/signs of aging (grey hair) looks much much better on men than it does on women In this case, obviously that's not true but Rourke's done a horrible job of taking care of himself
Woggle Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 He has also abused the hell out of his body. Let's see Lindsey Lohan when she's in her forties.
Pyro Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 Let's see Lindsey Lohan when she's in her forties. She already looks it.
Woggle Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 She already looks it. And the sad thing is she used to be attractive. She is a walking DARE poster. 1
Author FitChick Posted August 30, 2012 Author Posted August 30, 2012 Mickey Rourke admits to having plastic surgery. So perhaps it's not a matter of one sex aging better than another but of finding a good plastic surgeon.
Woggle Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 It all depends on the individual. You would think with all that money that celebrities would be able to afford a quality plastic surgeon.
Pyro Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 Mickey Rourke admits to having plastic surgery. So perhaps it's not a matter of one sex aging better than another but of finding a good plastic surgeon. he sure fooled me.
Radu Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder then. Mickey Rourke and Kim Basinger back together again. He was in boxing for a while. I'd like to see Kim or Lindsay at Sophia Loren's age ... tbh, i don't think that Lindsay will make it.
Emilia Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 I think it's what you do to yourself in your 20s (more so than later in life) and how good your genes are. 1
Author FitChick Posted August 31, 2012 Author Posted August 31, 2012 (edited) Not necessarily. I was very neglectful of my appearance when I was in my twenties and looked very plain and ordinary. It wasn't until after forty that I started looking really good. My mother never looked that great because she never made an effort. It's a shame about Mickey. You'd think he'd see a surgeon known for fixing other bad surgeons' work. Now he looks like a burn victim. He should go to Kim's surgeon, since she looks very natural. KungFuJoe Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Mickey Rourke was a pro boxer for a short stint but had a bunch of facial injuries that required cosmetic work. BAD example. Look at men like George Clooney, Brad pitt, Sean Connery. Men do tend to age better than women in general.
threebyfate Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Rourke's face is because of party living, boxing, five rhinoplasties and one attempt at corrective surgery for a shattered cheek bone. Mickey Rourke regrets plastic surgery
StrangeBehaviors Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 In the majority, yes. Men age better than women.
Disenchantedly Yours Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 I think men do age better because male beauty is not as dependent on looking young and flawless. I think old guys that ran the world tried to make that truth. Because a young Al Pachino is way better looking then an older Al Pachino
threebyfate Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 I think that's more of a culturally upheld stereotype. I think old guys that ran the world tried to make that truth.Agreed. Because a young Al Pachino is way better looking then an older Al PachinoDisagree. I'm fine with both and not because of the stereotype. There are different attractive elements in every age and gender and have never bought into the youth = beauty equation.
