Arcanum Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 A poem I wrote to help remind myself to keep strong. If sharing it helps anyone then sharing it was a good idea. There is no greater courage known Than to give your heart to another’s own And with it the power to destroy or nourish To treat as a toy or nurture to flourish When valued, enamoured, admired and fed There is no mile it can’t walk in it’s stead It beats with the sound of desire and of lust And at times of foundations that are stout and robust But there is no sorrow like a heart that is broken Like a gash has been ripped into flesh wide open It throbs and it bleeds with each beat in such pain You are sure you will die or a husk will remain But have faith that in time that wound will heal Although at a pace assured an ordeal And the anguish will not be as it was before A scar will form, the heart move once more And henceforth when you hear the words lovers say The scar will itch; reminding you of the day The day it was torn open by disregard and betrayal It’ll make you feel fearful, skin cold, cheeks pale But seek out that strength that you have deep inside That even true heartbreak can’t crush or deride And know that the greatest strength to be known Is to love with your whole heart and the scars that it owns. 1
