irc333 Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Okay, I've noticed a few people online dating sites, that sometimes over do it too much with the gym photos. 1. In front of a locker room/gym mirror 2. Pictures using gym equipment 3. Posed flexing photo Sometimes all 3 in one profile. Would this be considered a narcissistic person?
Disenchantedly Yours Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 You aren't allowed to have cameras or phones in the gym area. I don't see this. At my gym, thankfully, they shut down service within the building. But I think today in general, people are pretty self absorbed with the technology. 1

Must be your location only, never seen that rule though.
Disenchantedly Yours Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 It's a rule in my gym. I just know that they block the reception in the gym. ... or maybe it's just the locker room....Either way, I don't see a lot of people on the main floor using their phone or cameras.
SmileFace Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 By any chance do you actually work for an old site? 1
grkBoy Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Okay, I've noticed a few people online dating sites, that sometimes over do it too much with the gym photos. 1. In front of a locker room/gym mirror 2. Pictures using gym equipment 3. Posed flexing photo Sometimes all 3 in one profile. Would this be considered a narcissistic person? Perhaps...but the photos don't tell enough. If I saw a single woman on a dating site with photos like that, then I'd assume that unless I'm running marathons and/or look amazing with my shirt off, then I should not bother emailing her...no matter how much she doesn't mention a man's looks in her profile or how much she speaks of wanting a nice sweet guy who wants a relationship. In all honesty, I have come to believe in OLD that if a woman says physical attraction is important or has to be there, or even uses "chemistry", then it's code for "you had better be uber-hot". If she mentions she likes athletics and such, then it means what I said before...that you had better be able to run marathons and/or look amazing with your shirt off. I'm sure some women here will dispute this, and I'm sure those PARTICULAR women are honestly not as hardcore as the women I speak of when it comes to looks and athletic ability...but the observation and evidence speaks clearly on how many women in OLD who mention these things really mean they want a hot guy and/or a true athlete. AND...I'm not knocking those women for it. If they can get such guys, good for them.
Pompom Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 How are gym pics of oneself more narcy than others? If it's part of your life, it's good to show them. I take pics with my pets because that's how important they are to me; if it were the gym I want to "warn" people of being important to me, then I'd take gym pics of myself - so what? 1
Author irc333 Posted August 29, 2012 Author Posted August 29, 2012 Well, take this one for instance. Though she does flaunt it....she does seem to object at the bottom of her profile that she is sick of the perverts contacting her. To show off your sexuality and then not expect unwanted attention in an online dating profile is absurd.
Emilia Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Well, take this one for instance. Though she does flaunt it....she does seem to object at the bottom of her profile that she is sick of the perverts contacting her. Thanks! I now have to bleach my eyes
Pompom Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 The gym isn't her problem when it comes to aesthetics.

As a former NFL cheerleader and Vegas Showgirl duh!!... so she likes to look at herself and loves to be seen as an object...but that doesn't mean she wants to be hit on by perverts... Just don't contact her... next....
MrCastle Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 so she likes to look at herself and loves to be seen as an object...but that doesn't mean she wants to be hit on by perverts... Not sure if serious. Objectifying yourself leaves you open to being approached by perverts. If you act/dress like a slut, prepare to get treated like one.

If you act/dress like a slut, prepare to get treated like one. Of course I was serious... So a woman that dresses very sexy and shows herself off shouldn't be surprised if she is raped ? See where I'm coming from ?.. a woman shouldn't expect perverts to contact her because she chooses to put cheerleader type pictures of herself on her OLD profile.. She should expect men to read her profile and contact her if they are a match.. for men to take that extra step and send her a picture of their penis because she has busty photos on her profile is a bit of a stretch.

We don't have to get into extremes here, easy on the rape stuff. No one said anything about rationalizing rape. What I'm saying is, if you are going to objectify yourself, understand that men will take that to mean you are easy and that they can escalate quicker than they would with a regular girl.

I didn't say anyone was trying to rationalize rape.. I used that analogy so you could see where I was coming from that you should not assume a woman wants or expects to be treated a certain way just becuase of how she looks or dresses. You are splitting hairs... it is OLD.. not Online Masturbation.. If a man wants to be a pervert and send pictures of his penis to women he certainly isn't looking for a date for Friday night..

It's a poor analogy actually. Getting cat calls and whistles is one thing, the illegal thing is an entirely different type of conversation all together. If she dresses in such a manner, expect certain comments from the peanut gallery, and it'd be foolish not to, esp. with busted out cleavage and short shorts. I heard a woman complaining, even though she puts up risque photos of herself, she made a 1 page blog about how men are pigs when they make sexual comments about her photos. I recall a post she made, she does some modeling, and she was asking opinions from others on her Fanpage. She was proposed by an agency to have a calendar done of her, but she said something along the lines of if we were all sure if we'd want to see her face 365 days a year. And I was just joking around because I said, "Well, no one would probably be just looking at your FACE, 365 days a year" and she got on my case on that one. Actually there was nothing distastful about that comment, but she was getting tired of all the "Nice juggs/arse" comments all the time, I thought mine was a bit more original and funny, and nothing alone the lines of the previously stated comments by other men on her page. Apparently, she didn't think it was...I didn't apologize for it of course.
