I'm 32 and in college. Earlier this year I broke up with my girlfriend of 9 years. Since I'm a lot older than most of the girls in my class I'm hesitant in approaching them even though I'm very single. Plus what would work when I was young and cool might not work now. Really what I would like to know is from my photo in my avatar, do I have the looks to approach the hottest girls classes or is my age showing too much? Any advice?

Why are you so worried? Are you planning on going gung-ho and hitting on girls the first day? You don't want to be labeled the creepy old guy who's sexually harrassing girls.

But I'm in a similar situation as a grad student.

Just try to be friends with the girls without being too pushy. Don't rush into it. Most college students are relaxed and just want to have fun and goof around. Just be funny and a serious student. If you are the smart guy in class, then girls will come to you to help them study.

Also, a lot of girls like older men who know what they want in life, and how to satisfy a woman. The younger guys are immature players who cheat on girls. I'm sure there will be a few girls in your class that will be attracted to an older, wiser guy. They might not be the hottest girls on campus, but they'll be young and cute. Older guys have more confidence about life so use that to your advantage when you're competing against the younger, dumber, and naive college guys who have no game.

This is such a huge lie! Older men are more likely to be unfaithful and players in my experience.

OP, no you don't have the looks for the "hottest girls" but can't blame a man for trying?

Actually, I knew a guy who looks just like the OP. Who had a really conventionally hot girlfriend (like she looked like Megan Fox but better looking). Not my type really, but objectively I could see she was hot. This guy was a multi-instrumentalist + a drummer for a band though so......

So his looks probably won't be much of a barrier. So yeah, certainly can't blame a man for trying .

Probably because he was in a band. Girls like anything in a band. I swear they'd even fit a whole guitar and its player in their vagina if they could

The hottest girls ?

I doubt it, they are fresh out of HS and still have the queen-bee-status mentality.

Not to mention the age difference.

On the other hand, ppl [girls in this case] like ppl who are different from the norm.

If there are not many 'older' guys there, you will be somewhat of a hot item.

I'm actually in your position, starting law school this yr and i'm 29.

It's very subjective.

It all depends on the person you're approaching. Hit on 'em all and see what happens, haha

It depends on the guy. Some older men are more ready to get married at 30 than they were at 23. If you want a commitment and LTR, then there are girls who want the same thing.

It depends if he has sown his wild oats or if he's just looking to have fun and hook up with a lot of girls.

If you want to be a player, you can be the older rich guy who buys all the girls drinks, and become sort of a "party promoter" who knows all the hot clubs and bars and the bartenders/bouncers.

All the young guys are immature, poor, nervous chumps. Use your self-confidence and wiser life experience to your advantage.

The better question is, "why would YOU want to date a woman who is 19-20 years old. You're starting as a freshman, right? That is a huge difference in maturity.

You learn things as you get older, such as being more mature, less shallow, and more responsible. Well... some of us do.

If you feel just like you are 19, then go for it I guess. But I know for me, I wouldn't have wanted to hang out with my college friends at the age I am now.

I'm hardly going gung-ho about it if it's my second week of class and I haven't even tried. At first I wasn't even going to consider dating younger women, but there is some many hot girls and I'm single and want move on from my last relationship.

Women don't like older men if they're still in college. Women in their 20's date men in their 30's under the assumption that the latter is already well-established and making more money than their college student male peers.

Funny you should make that point because when I was 20 years old I scored high enough on a company test to be consider a candidate hire where normally one needs a 4 year degree for consideration. After getting fully hired on after year I was making good money and competing with guys who were older. Now it's reversed; my job is gone.

I'm considered a freshman but I'm taking some upper level courses. It doesn't have to 19-20. Even though I'm 32 I won't date a woman who has too much baggage and younger women usually have less.
