Long story short, I met someone recently and felt myself falling for him. He has said he felt the same. Due to work commitments, we will be *very far* apart for 15 months. Lack of vacation days also prevents visits much of the time. We agreed no LDR but to keep in contact and perhaps date again when the distance is closed.

My questions are:

- Do you think this whole thing is a dumb idea? Likelihood that it wont work? Yes, the distance is sure to close but what are the chances both people are still single and still looking for the same thing??

- What kind of contact would you keep with this person? Completely platonic? Flirty?

I've been in a LDR for well over a year now. THEY ARE TOUGH!! But that doesn't mean they can't work.

I suggest having an open relationship where you both can date other people.

I think we're talking about something that is neither an LDR or an open relationship, since there is no commitment. I could be wrong though... How would you interpret "keep in touch and see what happens later"?
