eyebrows?

just ask her not to shave so much? hair grows back very quickly. I don't see how this can be an issue for more than a few days

Blame American advertising OP. As soon as women starting wearing sleevelss blouses in 100 or so years ago, and as soon as dress came up higher, marketers started telling women how bad having body hair was.

They created a problem in womans minds that didnt exist previously...and by they, I mean male marketers who sought to create as many differences between the sexes as possible. If you travel around certain parts of Europe and Asia, women arent as preoccupied with shaving their legs and underarms all the time.

I dont mind women who let some fur grow. And Ive only known women to shave their legs and underarms OP. I dont know any girls who shave their arms. Arm hair is to be expected in my experience. And hell, my ex had this odd area on her lower back that was more furrier than the rest of her. I always thought it was cute though.

In short, societal conditioning is why men and women do what they do. I say let girls grow the hair and switch it up. I know I shave my underarms and chest when I hit the beach. And once I have more well defined legs, Im going to shave them too and sport a speedo...European style haha.

I only know of 1 woman I dated who SHAVED her arms. the rest just wax, but its once every few months. you hardly see it even when it grows in.

as far as eyebrows and shaving them..thats nonsense. never heard of a woman shaving eyebrows. plucking and waxing to give the shape, yes.

I admire a woman who takes the time to primp and pretty herself for me, because Im the same. even girls who arent the most beautiful but take time to do their nails and hair and makeup drives me crazy. I LOVE feminine woman who wear high heels and dress sexy for me.. ACH!!!

I shave my whole body. every day in the shower gets a different part. once arms/delts, once chest, once quads, once calves. my woman loves it.

I too do from woman. why wear oversized surfer shorts if you have nice long legthe skimpy swimwear thing like Kaylan. not speedo though. the styles and cut are terrible. Unico, Gigo, and Vuthy. made in Colombia. dont know why people in the US think that wearing a bikini is gay. if you have the body flaunt it. woman do it, why cant men? I get tons of "mmm nice and hunky" stares..nothing wrong with that.

Don't know about the rest of that, but shaved eyebrows usually look terrible.

I shave my arms! it takes 2 seconds and my arms are smooth and feel so nice. I have really dark hair and really pale skin, so I hated my arm hair. I've been doing it since 6th grade

Its because American culture has gotten so homophobic and repressive regarding male sexuality. We put women on such a high sexual pedestal and treat male sexuality with disdain. Its really dumb, especially considering how in the past, many cultures saw the male body as a work of art as well.

Its weird how female nudity is no big deal, but how everyone gets all bent out of shape by the mere outline of a penis. The thing is, I doubt youd find any women complaining if Daniel Craig or Cristiano Ronaldo was on the beach in a speedo and tried to talk to them.

EDIT: I looked up Gigo...hahah too revealing even for me. I need something that comes down my thigh just a little bit. I dont have it in me to do an all out bikini or thong lol.

my arm hair is VERY dark, and I'm Mexican ... so yeah, I shave mine because I think it's not very attractive. But, I'm trying to drop the habit because I realize that I'm a middle aged woman who doesn't have to give a rat's ass about what society thinks. As for my lucky patch ... well, it's a part of me. And, I can't see it, so I don't think about it. Husband doesn't really care, either, so I don't freak out over *that* bit of hair anymore.

kaylan hit the nail on the head, though: Media tells us what "beauty" is, and those of us with gap-teeth, blemished skin, a bit of fuzz, extra weight and whatever else is not "attractive" are made to feel inferior, so instead of just embracing our uniqueness, we do those things we can to fit in.

Kaylan, a pair of denim cut-offs that hit somewhere between mid- and top-of-thigh is always an attractive suit option as viewed by older earth mamas :love::love:

Im not gay, bi, or curious and certainly have no problem giving compliments to a man on looks. Daniel craig looks fantastic. I appreciate a man who puts in the effort to keep his body in shape. I know how much work it takes to keep fit. I think woman are intimidated when a guy looks good, or better than them. that they get more attention from woman than the woman does from men. I know it bothers my GF when I go with her to the beach. she sees the girls looking. I can sense her insecurity but she tries to poker face it. I grab her and kiss to let her know she's beautiful and im with her.

btw gigo underwear, only in boxer brief style. no thong or briefs. they have some amazing things. fantastic fit. dont why girls think CK gear is nice. once you try a designer pair like the ones sold at ero or steveneven you realize why you payed $30 for one. its a different world all together. dont go cotton. only polyester/nylon/elastane.

Vuthy I have this:

Vuthy - V-261 - Vuthy Swim Brief

Vuthy - V-204 - Vuthy Reversible Brief

Unico I have this:

AsdruMark - Unico Swim Brief Playa Numera White Men's Swimwear

AsdruMark - Unico Swim Brief Playa Gruta

Unico Swim Brief Oasis: Amazon.co.uk: Clothing

sorry to hijack the thread.

Epilator!

I use an eplilator on my arms. Lasts a long time, there's never stubble, and it doesn't take much longer than shaving.

Hurts way too much on armpits and bikini area though. And takes too long for legs unless you have a lot of free time on your hands. LOL

I like the designs of those, but couldnt do the brief cut. Id get some of those if they had boxer brief cuts. Ive never found briefs all that comfortable or flattering for my body. Then again, Im still building muscle...so it may look better as I get bigger in the gym. Im still rather slim.

And I agree some women just get intimidated when a guy can garner as much attention as they do. Especially American women, since they are so used to being sexualized themselves, that its a little change of pace for them when it happens to a guy they are with.

However, I also think the issue is a lot of women in my country get brainwashed with the same homophobic crap that men are...so youll hear them calling it gay for guys to do certain things. Not long ago a lot of women thought it was gay-ish for a guy to wear skinny jeans, even though the style has come and gone for straight men in the past before. Now everyone wears them and it isnt a big deal. Same thing with swimming briefs or speedos. There was a time in our history where guys wore that and it wasnt called gay or "a European thing".

My country is just threatened by male sexuality. But as you said, being fit takes hard work, so I applaud anyone who stays in shape and wants to show off their work.

Body hair on a woman is unattractive for the same reason man tits are unattractive on a man. American advertising has nothing to do with it in this case. Nor can you blame it on "homophobia" (which you seem to blame for every ill in this world). Body hair on women is gross...it's as simple as that. I remember being repulsed by hairy women even when I was a little boy living nowhere near America. The fact that you personally like women with "fur" does not mean that most other men share your preference.

*ugh*. My GF showed me a video once, where the woman was completely bald and it's safe to say that, that image is etched into my memory

^Incorrect.

Body hair on females is NATURAL. Its natural for them to have some, but not to the extent that men have body hair. Read a book please. And read some history. Why all of a sudden did shaving ads pop up once women started wearing less clothing? Men had been seeing naked women for years and years before that? And why only in a few countries like America and the UK did shaving become as common as it is? Why not elsewhere if body hair is something inherently masculine and unattractive to men?

Once homophobia started taking hold in this country, and once women started wearing more revealing clothing, its no surprise that things were done to make women as different from men as possible...even if those things are stupid.

If homophobia and creation of false gender differences having nothing to do with American views of body hair (as well as some other nations), explain why women in parts of Europe and in some areas of Asia (like Japan), keep their body hair more often (especially pubic hair). And Im talking about areas that are FAR less homophobic than the USA.

Fact of the matter is that some societies condition us into believing BS gender norms and roles that have nothing to do with what men and women are naturally attracted to. Women havent been removing body hair all over the world, nor has it been happening for hundreds of years. This is a recent thing...so to think culture has nothing to do with it is ignorant.

*ugh*. My GF showed me a video once, where the woman was completely bald and it's safe to say that, that image is etched into my memory

I find this gross as well. I want a woman. Women have pubic hair. Hair grows when you reach sexual maturity. It is indeed the porn industry, especially the American one, that pushes pubic baldness. I dont see baldness as much in Euro or Asian porn.

Bad breath, greasy hair and B.O. are natural too. I guess American advertisers and "homophobia" are to blame for the fact that people shower and brush their teeth :D

You obviously refuse to understand the point Im making. Take the swimwear discussion that occurred in this thread. In countries less culturally homophobic than the USA, men can wear wahetver the hell they want at the beach. Why is it, that in the USA, once womens clothing started becoming more revealing, that mean started covering up more. And men were getting no options at all when it comes to fashion.

Why the restriction? And then all of a sudden, at the turn of the century, when men start becoming fashion forward in this country, and getting new clothing options, people deride it as metrosexual...a gay look for the straight man is what it was originally deemed. Hence the tv show Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. Yet men have been fashion forward for the longest in Europe and elsewhere.

But homophobia has nothing to do with cultural gender norms/role huh? Society has a powerful influence on what we deem is or isnt attractive. Read this: http://www.scribd.com/doc/42623520/The-Science-of-Sex-Appeal-an-Evolutionary-Perspective

Try to read some stuff related to this as well. Do some searching about women shaving. Body hair on women isnt inherently unattractive. Some societies have taught us to feel that way. Many other societies dont care. Female body hair is natural, and has appeared in great works of art. If it was inherently unattractive, most societies would have women remove it...yet they dont.

Youre argument is like arguing "breast are unattractive on men"...which is incorrect on its face. Female type breasts are unattractive on men...but male type breasts...also known as "pecs", are very attractive to women. (I put pecs in quotations because women have pectoral muscles underneath their breasts as well, but mens breasts are only typically referred to as pecs) Anyways, this example is just like the hair thing....female body hair isnt inherently unattractive. It becomes unattractive when its body hair like a man, and most, most women cannot grow hair like that.

Women can have hair on their body and still be hygienic( just like men). The things you mentioned above are related to Hygeine and are the same for men and women and have always universally been considered unattractive.

I for one am HAPPY about this. I don't want to see a 50 year old fat guy in a thong. LOL

Of course, I am also not a fan of that one mom at our community pool who insists on wearing a bikini when bikinis should NOT come in that size!!!

So I guess everyone should have equal opportunity to gross other people out. :D

You are using one example (swimwear) to make pretty far-reaching conclusions. If "homophobia" has such a widespread impact on fashion in North America, how come all the straight male sex symbols have shaved chests? When was the last time you saw a hollywood movie where the main hunk had a hairy chest? And what about macho men wearing spandex (wrestling)? Or guys wearing tight fitting T-shirt or wife beaters to the gym...It's not like everyone walks around wearing a potato sack.

I'm guessing that board shorts are the norm in North America because of historical preference for baggy clothing here. A guy who's used to wearing baggy pants and oversized t-shirts would feel right at home in his board shorts. Another thing to keep in mind is that most Americans are obese. A 300 lbs man in pair of Speedos is a sight that even a progressive, sexually liberated non-homophobe like yourself would likely find unpleasant to behold...

No they all dont. Plenty of male sex symbols have had some chest hair. And just because they sometimes shave in magazines, does not mean they arent allowed to grow their hair. Its not frowned upon the way womens body hair is. Remember the ruckus people made when Julia Roberts made an awards appearance and her underarm hair slipped out. No one would have said a thing if a hollywood actor was caught with fur.

When was the last time you saw a hollywood movie where the main hunk had a hairy chest? And what about macho men wearing spandex (wrestling)? Or guys wearing tight fitting T-shirt or wife beaters to the gym...It's not like everyone walks around wearing a potato sack.
This isnt about the movies though! PAY ATTENTION. This is about general expectations for ALL women, be they on the street or in a magazine. Follow the conversation properly and answer my previous questions in the correct manner.

Men wearing tights in wrestling has NOTHING to do with fashion. Its about performance. Straight men could NEVER do that out in public walking around because theyd get labeled as gay. So stop fooling around and lets be real. No body calls Ryan Lochte or Michael Phelps gay for wearing speedos to perform better in swimming. No one says that about any swimmer...yet its super taboo for anyone else to do it....see my point?

Dont argue fashion when talking about sports wear. Two different things. Fashion conventions and homophobia are different when it comes to sports. You can smack a guys ass after a goal in soccer or a touchdown in football...but do that in public with your buddies, and people will give a wide eye to it. No one would think much of it if girls joked around like that though in public.

To pretend homophobia has nothing to do with male and female attire and behavior is so silly. Theres a reason why the whole metrosexual thing used to have a bad label to it when it started.

I'm guessing that board shorts are the norm in North America because of historical preference for baggy clothing here. A guy who's used to wearing baggy pants and oversized t-shirts would feel right at home in his board shorts.

Its not a historical preference for baggy clothes. That doesnt exist. Americans have gone through many phases of clothing and tighter clothing has been an option for men during several parts of our history. Board shorts is a recent thing. Back in the 60s and 70s, and even 80s, men wore short shorts and speedo typed swim wear. Go google some pics. Hell, watch an NBA game from the 80s. Look at them short shorts!

Another thing to keep in mind is that most Americans are obese. A 300 lbs man in pair of Speedos is a sight that even a progressive, sexually liberated non-homophobe like yourself would likely find unpleasant to behold...

Weight has nothing to do with this. I have friends who have visited parts of Europe and South America, and they have seen overweight folks and old folks wearing skimpy swim wear. Sure Id prefer not to see a 300 lb man wearing a speedo, but his weight has nothing to do with why Americans have an aversion to them at this moment.

Americans werent as overweight in the 50s when Elvis wore drain pipe jeans...nor were they as fat in the 80s when punks and hair metal fans wore their skinny jeans. And nowadays its back in fashion for those slim enough to pull off the look. Whats my point? Some of the population being overweight has nothing to do with fashion trends. Fashion trends are typically about what the average sized and skinny American wants to wear. The bigger American has no affect on this.
