I've heard some women say they thought these guys they messaged on OLD were kind of cute, until the guys wrote little poems back to them. The women were really creeped out by this.

Maybe it's just me, but I thought it was just plain bizarre that any guy would want to do that... I'd NEVER do it myself!!!

What do you women think of guys who send little poems to impress you?

I think it's cute though if it's a total stranger and the poem is the first communication I get from him, I may think the passion of it might be a bit creepy.

But a lot of things that used to be considered cute or romantic, have been declared creepy lately it seems:

Watching your crush from afar - in non-private moments, that is! - by going to the coffee shop across the street, or by waiting for the bus that he also takes, things like these used to be romantic, now they're called stalking, psycho, creepy. I always thought that stealing glances at the one who makes your heart skip a beat, was normal.

The same goes for writing poems or taking a guitar to their window and singing your heart out. In recent years, a fixation on men all being potential rapists/murderers for showing too much affection, and women being Borderline-sick clingy stalkers, has contaminated gestures formerly considered romantic. Very sad.

I think it's kind of strange if it's serious, as we don't know each other very well and poetry implies intimate and strong feelings to me. It could be funny if it was done for humor, or cute if we'd known each other for a little while and it was light-hearted.

I have this on my dating profile:

The smell of dog piss

Fades at the same pace

As the life does from the grass

It poisoned

It's meant to be humorous, not actually deep. A guy replied with an adjustment, where the piss acts as a fertilizer rather than a killer. Thought it was funny.
