This one's not even about me actually, but my sister who's a couple of years younger than me, she's 27, has recently started seeing a guy who's 35. He's never been married, has a good career, seems like a fairly decent dude... but, I guess I'm a little weirded out by the fact that my younger sister is dating someone 5 years older than me!

What do you all think, if they get along ok does that seem like an acceptable difference? She hasn't told my parents yet... kind of curious to see what their reaction will be.

Yeah... I can't say that I necessarily have a problem with it, it was just a bit of a surprise and as I don't know the guy very well yet, it seemed like a somewhat big difference in age. I've never dated anyone more than a couple of years younger or older than me. I guess if they're happy, it's all good.

They're grownups. Eight years is nothing.

What age of men do you think your 27 year old sister should be dating?

Yes, I wouldn't bat an eyelash at those ages.

What is your concern?

I can understand being a little weirded out. But 27 and 35 really isn't that bad at all. Try focusing on how he treats your sister more then their ages.

I got a little weirded out at first when my brother started dating this girl that is my own age. But I can't say enough good things about her. They are now engaged. I guess it would kind of make sense that he would date someone my age. I think there there is information on how your siblings and birth order affect mate choice. You might want to google some stuff to help you figure out out better.

27 and 35 is a perfectly normal and acceptable age gap. It's not like he's 50 or something, then it would be a bit weird and questionable.

27 & 35 is nothing. I'm surprised you are even questioning it. 20 & 35 is a bit of a gap. Or 30 & 50+ is a bit of a gap but 27 and 35??? Seriously?
