I gave my girlfriend an unintentional hickey the other day on the neck..Clear as day...I hardly even sucked on the skin but it left a mark really clear and she said that it'll last about a week. She had to lie to her parents and tell her it was poison ivy and they believed it but I think they are skeptical about it though. I was just wondering if anyone out there knows how to shorten a hickey's "life" or get rid of a hickey or ANYTHING! ANYTHING TO HIDE OR DIMINISH OR GET RID OF IT! Please And Thank You. I Greatly Appreciate It!

:lmao: Poison ivy!

Unfortunately, there's not much you can do about hickeys. It shouldn't take long for it to heal on its own (that poison ivy excuse isn't going to hold up!). There are a few things you could try to help it fade faster:

1. Apply a cold compress immediately (although that may interrupt a moment of passion). Keep the compress on 20 minutes, off 20 minutes. The cold will constrict blood vessels and help keep the bruise from spreading.

2. If the hickey lasts for more than 48 hours, apply wet, warm compresses to decrease any pain or swelling. Once the blood has stopped spreading around the bruise, apply heat, which dilates blood vessels and thus speeds up the sweeping away of blood cells. In most cases, moist heat is more effective than dry heat, because the moisture helps wick the heat beneath the skin.

3. Apply concealer in a shade that's lighter than your natural skin color and discreet enough to fend off unwanted attention.

I've never allowed a guy to suck on me long/hard enough to give me a hickey, so I can't tell you if any of these work. However, #3 should help for sure.

Good luck!

Poison Ivy lol. Unless her parents are Amish I seriously doubt they believed that. Not to much you can do about a real big hicky except try and put make-up on it.

I play a lot of tennis and use "Arnica Montana" Gel for sore muscles and bruising. Cuts the healing time of bruises in half. You can find it at most health food stores and large supermarket pharmacies. It's a very common remedy in Europe, too.

Arnica comes in tablet and ointment forms, too -- but for a hickey, the gel will work best.

Here's what works...

Warm compresses help spread the blood out so it's not in one place. That alone won't remove it, but it will help with the next step...

Get a comb and comb your skin in a few different directions. Done right your hickey will be gone, but your neck will still be a little red from using the comb, which is easily covered with makeup. At least you won't have all those little surface blood spots.

I have heard that "slapping" your hickey with a bristled hairbrush will maske it go away--I imagine this is similar to the comb over.

Not sure, but thats what I heard

It's something I've never personally done but TOOTHPASTE! Some friends of mine say it works, try it, nothing lost nothing gained.

And if all fails, hide it with a scarf :o
