kaylan Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 For those who mentioned conforming; How is it conformist to get a tattoo if you enjoy body art? Is it not conformist to listen to what haters think and follow their non-tattoo herd instead? Talk of conformity sounds like the whiner goth and punk kids in high school who hated on kids who were your typical preppy or jock folks. 1

Talk of conformity sounds like the whiner goth and punk kids in high school who hated on kids who were your typical preppy or jock folks. I never said anything about hating. It's just the whole permanency thing and since so many people get them these days it seems like a fad. I don't "hate" people who have them, it just seems too much. The glitter, the body modifications, the tattoos, the 'look at me' mentality with girls constantly taking pictures of themselves, it just all seems like a passing trend you can't get rid of.
SJC2008 Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 I'm neutral to tats they do nothing for me. Any more than a few well placed ones and I'm outie. That being said I seen a really pretty girl at a bar last week with one arm sleeved and it went with her well. I was surprised how it suited her but I was really attracted to her so that helped. I don't know what was up with that bar but A LOT of the women there were tatted and it's not a biker bar. I hate tramp stamps because they're trendy and I HATE the barbed wire tat around the bicep on men that was the trend in the late 90's/early 200's.
USMCHokie Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 My post got truncated so here it is fixed. I'm with ya, buddy. Can't stand the idea at all. I might not be so hard about it if it weren't that you're right about it being a herd conformity now. It doesn't pass for bravado--doing without them does. Frisky, my friend, you know it will always be a life goal of mine to give you a tattoo in your sleep. 2
Emilia Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Ink is just ugly and ages badly. There are so many men in London with tattoos all over their arms and legs, at the first sign of aging it starts looking like dirt. Not necessarily a turn off when under control but a lot of it is off-putting. 1
Garfish Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Never got with a chick like this but there's something really super hot about a dark haired chick with full sleeves (something colorful or evil, no disney characters), wearing a black wife beater, jeans, belt and black leather boots... rock and roll baby. Like a 50's pin up biker babe. Words or phrases don't look good to me. Tatts should be pictures and designs, not words. And people with some exes name on them really look dumb. Who wants to see that at certain times.

Not necessarily a turn off when under control but a lot of it is off-putting. Most people let themselves look like crap when they age anyways...tattoo or no tattoo Plus tattoos of previous generations werent of the best quality. Nowadays they last quite well...and theres no reason a tattoo cant look great as you get older as long as you stay in shape, stay away from too much sun, and get touch ups every several years. Matter of fact, I saw a lady in her late 40s or earlt 50s, in the dollar store the other day and she had a beautiful sleeve. Either it was new or freshly touched up, but it looked great.
O'farrell Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 I personally think tatoos are low class. Just me and my opinion. I would never get one. But when girls have tatoos its hot. srs.
WonderKid Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 I love tats they are a sign of art and an expression. I have 2 on me going for 4. I don't like it when a woman has tats on her feet. And tramp stamps annoy me. Be original. Lol 1
Andy_K Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 I don't have any myself, but I think that they can look pretty good. I have dated (and would date) girls with tattoos. I am not a judgemental person, much more the 'live and let live' type. Although this does make me want to ask another question: For the guys who think tattoos make girls trashy - Do you also think tight or revealing clothes are also classless and undesirable? For the other guys who are cool with tattoos - Are you equally comfortable with girls who choose to dress to show off?
Titanwolf Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 : For the other guys who are cool with tattoos - Are you equally comfortable with girls who choose to dress to show off? Yes. Ink isn't indicative of character. I have no qualms with a woman's sense of style (unless of course, she's walking around in a fishnet bodysuit, with nothing underneath O_O) 1
USMCHokie Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 For the other guys who are cool with tattoos - Are you equally comfortable with girls who choose to dress to show off? Eh, if you've got it, flaunt it. 1
MuscleCarFan Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 I have no problems with tattoos at all. Most importantly, do not judge a book by its cover! They could be very smart and intelligent. It's unfair to judge someone as low class because they have tattoos. 1

The lower back tat is a trend why are they so popular? Did a million women wake up one day and decide to get one there and were like "Oh gee we all got tatted in the same spot"? No, they caught on and people get the because that's where people get them. Same goes for the ones around the bicep I mentioned earlier.

Either it was new or freshly touched up, but it looked great. I see the occasional great one - and more so nowdays - but those are rare. Most of them are ugly blue stars. Why anyone feels the need to tattoo blue stars on their neck or legs is beyond me. Nothing special or interesting or even imaginative about those.
lino Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Tattoos on women don't bother me at all I've got 10 tattoos myself and they're awesome My girlfriend has 2. I'm not a huge fan of entire sleeves, surnames across the back, song lyrics, etc... those are normally tats done simply to fit in. However I wouldn't turn down an otherwise great girl because of it. Seems a bit silly to me. 1
irc333 Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 You should come to my neck of the woods. Being that it's summer time, and there's a lot of water activities in the public parks and places. Women are LOADED up with so many tats, they look like ex-cons. I almost caught myself staring at probably early 20's tattooed freak in her bikini. Talk about an EYEsore. What's sad is, it's they early 20's crowd that's doing this. Such a beautiful body all inked up. I don't mind the small, dinky tat on the ankle or wrist, but man to attemp to cover every inch of your body? It just looks trashy. Forgive me if this has been posted already, I searched and couldn't find anything. Anyway, I'm finding it very difficult to find women to date in my area because they're all tattoo'd. Now, before I get the "I didn't get tattoos for anyone else and I don't care what you think about them" speech, I want to know if any other guys find tattoos on women to be a HUGE turn off. At one time I guess they were seen as rebellious, but now every time I'm out in public or talking to a girl I notice the majority of them have ink! It used to be a sign of being unique, now in my eyes it's a sign of following the herd because everyone's got them, and with women with the beautiful bodies they already have I don't understand it at all. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I've met countless chicks who were VERY PRETTY and had a nice body, but then I see the ink and I'm like "Another one? Really? Is this a disease or something?" So, FELLAS, do any of you feel the same way?
ThaWholigan Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 I'm not particularly turned on by tattoos (unless they are well done and well placed), but I've never been turned off by them either.
grkBoy Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 So, FELLAS, do any of you feel the same way? I don't have a big issue with tattoos if it's one or a few. I will though pass up a girl who is working on sleeves or has a lot of visible tattoos. To me it's like when a girl gets a pixie cut. She can proclaim how the man's opinion doesn't count in this, but it'll certainly count when guys pass her up for the girls with long hair. Same with tatts. She can dismiss a man's opinion, but if the guys are passing her up, I'm sure it'll be a different story. REGARDLESS, you and I might not be deeply into tattoos, but there are plenty of men who are. So it should be good. I'll also add that one factor of tatts that turns me off is the woman generally is very "live for the moment" and doesn't seem to always have the most stable life. I see these "tattoos in the workplace" sites and blogs pop up saying how it's not right workplaces judge people based on ink, but for the one doctor who has sleeves, I see 100 more bartenders, retail workers, and low-end job folk with the tattoos. It's not even that they were passed up for the big corporate finance position, but more they spend their money on tattoos over taking classes and educating themselves. Told a girl the other day who hated her secretary job she needs to stop spending her money on tattoos, clothes, and trips to big music festivals and perhaps toss some money and time into taking classes and learning new skills. 1
truth_seeker Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 I want to know if any other guys find tattoos on women to be a HUGE turn off. Yes. 100%.
raindrop27 Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 One of the WORST trends where I live (in the North East of England, but I think it's common throughout the UK to be honest) is the mustache tattoo girls get on their index finger, like this: http://www.tattoostime.com/images/88/mustache-tattoo-on-finger-of-girl.jpg Just awful. Is this a thing anywhere else? I'm not a big fan of them in general, I do have one small one on my ankle and kind of regret it. As far as whether it's a sign of individuality or following the crowd it totally depends on what kind of tattoo's you have. Where I live more girls between 18-30 have them than don't, and it's usually tramp stamps, stars on their wrist (actually WORSE is when MEN get stars on their arms or wrists!!), those STUPID mustache things, childrens initials, etc.. Not unique or cool. But I see lots of cool and unique tattoos on the more alternative crowd. I would never be covered in them myself though. :/

Titanwolf Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Oh I have to appreciate how my tattoo also functions as an auto-idiot filter saves me a lot of trouble.
raindrop27 Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Even more prevalent in London is that I encounter a lot of women who prefer men with tattoos, and I personally have no desire to get one . I think they can look good on men (mainly just on arms or maybe the back) but again it depends on the type and amount.. Less men here have them than women I think! I'm not fussed either way if a man is tattoo'd or not. Now piercings is another matter! I CANNOT be doing with piercings! Just personal preference though, I don't judge people for having them or anything. I just find it a turn off.
