I was texting with a girl I know. She has a boyfriend, so I'm not expecting anything, but she wants to get together for drinks to catch up. I wouldn't even call her a friend, moreso an acquaintence.

Then out of NOWHERE she texts, "do you know so-and so girl?"

"No, I don't who is she?" - me (I really dont know her)

"She's my sister's best friend, she works at [blank school] (same school I go to). You should find her and meet her!"

Is she trying to hook me up? Girls, how do they work?

Also, just found out this girl is 31!? (Im 23)

yes, she's trying to hook you up.

She can't venture into a date with you, she's taken and committed, but likes you enough to believe you and *so-and-so* would be great together.

which girl - the one you're texting or the potential hook-up?

Does the girl you're texting know how old you are?

I'm 23.

Girl I'm texting is 24. She knows how old I am.

Potential hookup is 31, and works at the grad school I go to. WTF

"...You should find her and meet her!"

"She's a little bit attention-starved and since you're conveniently in the area, you should make all the effort to go give her some!"

Caveat: The above is from a male perspective.

24-year-old girl knows 31-year-old is getting desperate and fast approaching her breeding prime.

needs a man in her life..... does hook-up lady know someone is trying to hook her up?

sometimes, matchmakers can cause offence, involuntarily....

OK, steer clear of a foursome date - height of embarrassment.....

Yes she's passing you off to a friend...but look on the bright side, older women know better than to date a guy who is 24 at her age so she's likely just going to rape you.

Wouldn't take it so seriously, just go with it...the worst that could happen is you'd actually learn something at your age you shouldn't be looking to jump into anything just yet...unless that's really really what you want to do.

anyone else?

She is not interested in you and feels somewhat bad about it so she is trying to find you someone else.

I often do the same :o

In that case, it gets even worse. She can sense that you are interested (we women know these things) and she wants to discourage you from making a move.

Yes, she is trying to set you up with that girl. Maybe that girl said she likes you and asked your mutual acquaintance to get involved.

She thinks you are lonely - and her friend is her prime. She is most likely just trying to get her friend laid.
