lifegoal Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 I came from a different culture. And I have been having really hard time to make true friends. Friends to me are very important. I will help in any way if I could. Money, time, whatever I can do to help I will do it. And I expect my friends treat me the same way. But I haven't found a single person like this in America. People are nice on a superfecial level, but after you leave, everybody willl treat you like a stranger. Funny thing is those people do not keep in touch but added me on FB. I wonder why?
photogeek Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 You just have to keep at it. It will be awhile before people establish friendships with someone. For example, when I started working, I was very new, not used to all the things going on. I didnt hang out with them, I didnt really talk much with them. But after awhile, through talking, joking, etc...that led to hanging out, getting invited places with them. This eventually leads to friendships. But of course it wont be like this with everyone. You just have to keep at it.
bdash Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 like photogeek said, it takes time to get here. You can't expect this kind of friendship to develop quickly. It may well take a year or two of being friends to get to a really deep friendship (which it sounds like you want).
