irc333 Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Well, looks like Match.com is pushing "Stir", it's geared towards singles doing, cooking classes, improv, etc etc. Anyone see any merit to "Stir'?
truth_seeker Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 I think it's a good idea. You can actually meet people face to face. No more hiding behind the keyboard. You can see people and get a feel for them.
FitChick Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 What are they charging for it? You can take cooking classes on your own you know.
carhill Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 We used to do singles meetups back in the late 90's through Matchmaker (an early OLD portal). I sponsored a couple, meaning I arranged the venue and organized the event. The one at the zoo worked out pretty good. The cost was minimal, generally just a few bucks, and people would buy their own beverage and food. Overall, though, back then anyway, people were skeptical and the turnout reflected it. We were lucky if 30 people showed up. Perhaps now is a better time for such events. At my age, I doubt I'd participate.
grkBoy Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 I learned how to cook long ago out of interest. I didn't complain when women suddenly found it attractive. If I was single and looking to meet women, I'd try it.
