The only time I ever hear that word is on this board and other gender war kind of debates. I never hear it anywhere else.

It's a fancy word for having really big, bulging thighs.

The action of marrying a person of a superior caste or class.

Women usually marry up in money and Men marry up in looks, although the difference either way is usually not that big. Most couples are very similar

Female hypergamy (as we know it on the internet) is usually described as women finding average attractiveness to be subpar - thus only having any kind of attraction towards the "top 20%".

Utter doom-mongering if you ask me .

Actual hypergamy (which does exist) is just a fancy word for GIGS, where women (and indeed men) date-up in socioeconomic status, or in looks.

A 1109- couple study in the US found no couple in their study married up.

It appears the only major global phenomenon of Hypergamy is currently in India where the rural brides parents are increasingly trying to marry their daughters to city guys.

I think there are women who adhere to this, but this problem is way too exaggerated in my observations.

It is an idea related to supernormal releasers. It's not just about PUA or "marrying or mating up" or women or even humans.

So if I marry someone because they have a bigger screen TV, is that hypergamy?

Actually my first thought was they like to fold paper into doves really fast

You guys are close, hypergamy is just a word to describe a trend of women always wanting to trade up. It happens all the time, they want the top dog. The issue is when the top dog only wants to bust a nut in them.

An average looking girl aged 18-30 has similar options to an ultra handsome A-list male celebrity. No trolling. 100% serious.

Of course the vast majority of girls will deny the existence of hypergamy. Abstrract thinking isn't a strong suit of the female sex. Luckily for them, they can afford to be completely clueless about the workings of the dating market. As far as they know, getting a guy is as easy as ordering a cup of coffee, so the reverse must be true.

I always wonder what it's like to be the world's biggest victim. Thanks for explaining it!

It's very easy threebyfate.

Just get your head kicked in by life for 7-8yrs, develop social anxiety, have everyone laugh at you, or make jokes about you, add in a few abusive relationships and 140 pounds.

Simpler ?; sure, date a lying cheating assholish NPD, and become his enabler for 5yrs.

Want to see if it's true ? Look at history of noble houses.

Or do online dating with identical profiles, but put into one that you make 250k a yr.

I think in the modern world it's happening to a less degree than it did in the past, but it's still there.
