I fell in love with this 18 year old European tourist in Union Square.

And now my heart aches because she is gone. I literally would have jumped on a plane back to Europe to find her if I was a bit older. I only knew her for 3 hours. She looked exactly like Adriana Lima.

Get a grip

i can not. She was an ideal partner. Iv never felt a connection like that. the only explanation is that as a European she knows she is a child and doesn't act 10 years older like an american girl and thus has an innocence that can not really be found here in america. I myself wish I was a child but hard times and work took away my childhood a long time ago. And people my age like to act 10 years older. But euros are definitely more grounded thus project an integrity about themselves.

Are you sure it's not just a case of

a) people tend to be a little more shy and unsure of themselves when they're in a different country, and

b) when English isn't a person's first language they can express themselves in unusual ways that have a charming naivety and freshness about them.

? Not wanting to rain on your parade in any way, but it can be very easy to idealise people who are from different cultures...especially if you're feeling a bit fed up.

If I spent time with girl who looked like Adriana Lima and had a sweet care free nature, I'd likely be smitten to.

I had a conversation with a 52 year Swedish man and he stated the biggest difference between America and Europe is that girls in America act 10 years older so I am going to stick with my reasoning. But even if I didn't have this conversation I would still stick to this reasoning because I want to believe it.
