My advice is get yourself some decent headphones and block these f***ers out. It always works for me and I've successfully blocked out sleaze bags, homeless people and anyone who wants to insult me. If you do feel really uncomfortable on your street, maybe think about self defense classes? It's only a good thing.

I'm the sort of person that outside of an "excuse me" or the day's salutation won't say or do much. I can't I just don't work like that. It drives me nuts to see guys do that, lick their lips, assume that they're some sort of gift. This is a weird attitude. You are probably just insecure about yourself and take it out by pretending to feel repelled by other men behaving this way. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with approaching a girl and asking a question or giving a simple compliment. You see someone you find beautiful and you want to talk to them, this may or may not lead to anything more than short conversation but you never know. I can understand that it's bad behaviour when they immediately change attitude and become insulting or rude after being "rejected" But in general, what on earth is wrong with another person showing interest in you? This should never be seen as a negative thing.

I live in San Francisco I see beautiful women all the time and I give a couple compliments on the street. If you catch my attention its a good thing why would you get offended? Smile and say something. I swear people have something up their asses all the time.

Yes. I find it even more bizarre that when certain men find out that women don't like it, they become defensive and insist that we should feel flattered by it. That's arrogance.
