Janesays Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 What if your SO surprised you with a sky diving date, would you be thrilled? Or would you rather they talk it over with you first? The reason I ask is because I bought the tickets, I THINK he'd be into it and he loves surprises....but then again I'd hate to put him in an emasculating situation where his girl is all ready to strap herself to some instructor and dive out of a plane while he's scared as H. Thoughts?
Pyro Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 I would be beyond thrilled.:bunny: I went once 12 years ago and have been meaning to go back. He better enjoy it.
fortyninethousand322 Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 I'd be thrilled. Unless of course we find out during the dive that the parachutes are defective. At that point my opinion might be different.
rocketman122 Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 never thought about the you being strapped to a male diver till you noted it. hmm..depends how long we were together..what about you with a femaler diver. wouldnt bother me if its something I liked, but I do like to plan if its something besides going to a restaurant/movie/museum/beach thing. My stomach cant take much stress. its too tough for me on roller coaster rides so skydiving is too extreme but it if it was something go karts, or paintball that would be pretty cool. but since I like to plan, I would appreciate it if she told me ahead of time. a month is good.
Woggle Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 If you are on good terms with any friends get them to talk to him about skydiving and get his thoughts on it. 1
miss_jaclynrae Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Awesome date!!!!! I did it for a first date and it was so much fun! I say go for it.
SJC2008 Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 If you think he'd be up for it it's a great surprise gift! You sound like a woman who likes to have fun! The women I date won't even get on a roller coaster:mad:

Thoughts? Well my ex did that for a living so I think he would have rolled his eyes haha
serial muse Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 (edited) Well, you know your BF best, so if you think your BF is generally up for that sort of thing, you're probably the best judge of all. I also think Woggle's idea to consult friends is a good plan. Lots of people would think it's cool, but it's not always obvious...for example, once upon a time I might've thought my H would find it exciting, but after talking to him about it, I now know he wouldn't actually be into it. He's an athletic outdoorsy guy who thinks nothing of scrambling around on mountains - but as it turns out, skydiving and bungee jumping and that sort of extreme sport stuff just does nothing for him. I remember telling him about my one skydiving experience, and he was basically like, "that's awesome but I wouldn't be up for it." Edited August 3, 2012 by serial muse
veggirl Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 As long as he's not afraid of heights, I'm sure he'll love it. My BF would be thrillllled if I surprised him with that, he has been a few times and loves it. I would be like WTF if he bought it for me, I am terrified of heights and he knows it.

Great idea. If he's too scared, he's probably not the right guy for you...
Imajerk17 Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 I'd be ambivalent about skydiving itself. On the one hand, it does seem kind of a passive activity. On the other hand, I'd be thrilled that my SO went through all that trouble for me.
