Why is it that women especially our girlfriends get so jealous whenever us guys we happen to be friends with girls? Are they that afraid or that insecure that we will end up cheating on them with this friend(s), or is it because they feel that insecure about themselves in general and that they feel like they don't want to lose us

Both. Next!

I could ask the same thing of men.

There is no need for them to feel jealous especially if we are with them and not those other girls, we choose to be with the girl we love for a reason and it would be better if the girlfriend in question would trust her boyfriend more because I feel that if she trusts him and he trusts her, nothing can go wrong

You must know that a lot of people cheat on each other. Both men and women want to draw boundaries to protect their relationships, that's only natural.

Not everyone chooses to be with a girl they love, some look for something better on the side.

You have a point and considering I'm a guy you might be right but not all guys are like that, a guy can be friends with a girl and it won't mean anything especially if he has a girlfriend

Of course not all guys are like that. Not all girls get jealous either. They are also less likely to get jealous as they get older and more mature.

But I'm young, so what do I know, only in my 20s, but still girls my age are just so jealous especially my girlfriend

Well it sounds like your relationship is quite new - from the other thread - and she doesn't know you yet. Trust needs to be earned you know. Try to compromise with her

most women are not this way, but off the top off my head I can think of a few possible reasons.

1. He has cheated before and she knows it (not necessarily on her)

2. She has been cheated on before so she worries about it

3. She has cheated before (not necessarily on him), so she worries he might

4. She worries he is out of her league, and will dump her if he finds someone better (putting on my flameproof suit)

Time for crass generalizations !

Many of us believe, and I'm one of them, that it's very rare for there to be a close friendship between members of opposite sex where one party doesn't want to boff the other party.

To be honest, most of my male friends started out attempting to date me, and then accepted that it would be just friends. If we replace that with the word F*ck, that number goes up to "All".

Woman are more likely to have male pals they DON'T want to sleep with, but they tend to treat them as girlfriends. ( thus the term emotional tampon. It sounds mean, but we woman share our feelings, worries etc with our GF's, so we do it with our male friends too)

Now if the woman DOES want your man, WATCH OUT ! They will wait years, and they will never miss an opportunity to slam the current GF. Guys can be pretty clueless about this, but we woman have a sixth sense, and even if she DOESN"T want him, there are the types that purposely exclude the GF, hang on the male friend physically, refer to the guys ex's, talk all about past fun times leaving the current GF completely out of the loop, etc...

But I love it when girls get jealous when their boyfriends all of a sudden start to become friends with other girls, what can I say it entertains me when they get jealous because it shows that they actually care

Like many young men, you seem to think that the only glue that holds a couple together is sex. If this were true, people could just get themselves blowup dolls and be done with the more tricky part of relationships. For better or worse, there is a lot more that goes into making a strong relationship than just sex. When men/women have friends of the opposite sex that they become emotionally close to, it can take a signifigant ammount of time and energy from the primary relationship, thus weakening it. Sex can easily enter the picture here, even if the two friends aren't very attracted to each other. As long as they're not repulsed by each other, emotional closeness often creates a desire to bond physically. Regardless, just the emotional closeness can do enough damage to destroy the primary relationship.

Since you are young, OP, I'm guessing that you aren't looking for a long relationship yet. You're probably just sampling untill you're older and have a better idea of what you want. If this is the case, why not just tell prospective girlfriends that you aren't looking for a serious relationship at this point and want to enjoy the benifits of having female friends on the side? If you are open about this, your girlfriends won't be as upset about any female friends you might have. They'll know better than to invest too much emotion into you and will find it much easiar letting you explore other relationships that may become more than platonic.

This doen't sound like a healthy dynamic in a relationship. One should be secure enough to not need their partner to become jelous just to understand that their partner "cares".

But girls are the ones who instantly get jealous in those types of situations especially when their boyfriends become friends with other girls especially other girls who are more attractive in some way or another
