The first girl out of like 20 to message me back god damn deletes her account the next day. We sent back and forth like 20 messages. And then this morning I find shes gone. I mean I know this kind of **** is typical with online dating but god damn it a simple goodbye would have been nice :(

Yeah I've come across that, too. Sometimes, with hindsight, I suspected it was a fake account of some kind, but generally I think that some people just aren't ready to be on a dating site.

I really expected using a dating site to actually work. I had no idea it was so utterly impossible to find someone who will actually fn message me back. I mean I'm pretty sure I'm a fairly decent looking guy but the girls on these sites are just either so ridiculously picky or they are terrified that all the guys on it are serial killers. I mean why the hell are these freaking chicks on the god damn site in the first place if they don't plan on going on any dates with anyone except a guy who is just her idea of utter perfection.

I know you don't want to hear this but guys do this too. I can't tell you the amount of "pre relatiobships"I have had with guys since they have no interest in actually meeting someone.

Its also happened to me a few times too. Possible they were bogus accounts or maybe the girl was communicating with multiple guys and decided on one and ditched the account (thought she wouldn't delete tho) or maybe she got some pervy msgs & dick pics and flipped and deleted her account. You wont know for sure, but its annoying.

I really don't know. I mean if this happened once fine but this has happened several times and for months at a time. This is why I hope I never try old again I can't deal with it and obviously don't know how to avoid it.

Pay OLD sites=populated by women who suck at dating so much she has to pay to meet men.

 

Conclusion: OLD=a waste of time.

20 messages what the freak? Most girls before then get bored of sending messages. You should be sending no more than a few, then you make a date plan. Girls want action.

 

Girls taking down their profiles is common too for all sorts of reasons, you shouldn't take it personally. If you do then online dating is not for you my friend.

One of them gets a couple HUNDRED messages a day. She never responds, she just reads all of the "You're beautiful", "You're sexy", etc. The other girl responds, but has no intention of ever meeting them.

Well 20 messages sounds like a lot lol but if we said all that in person it would have only been like less than a 5 minute conversation really. I was planning on asking for her phone number the 2nd day but oh well lol. And I don't take it personally it just sucks balls getting your hopes up, I mean its not like a cuss anyone out when they don't respond. I get that she just deleted the account to avoid any awkwardness or whatever but still its kinda of a bitchslap to me lol.

Yeah, I sometimes get a disdain for OLD as well.

 

So many women saying "I don't mean to sound shallow, but I like what I like and I won't settle!"

 

Getting tired of the same, repetitive, "Where are all the nice guys" or "If you're looking for a One Night Stand, skip my profile!!"

 

Crap like that, whiny women who just seem constantly irritated or sarcastic.

 

"Criminals or felons, need not apply!!"

 

What's more irritating, I don't do ONS's, and have no criminal record...you'd tink they'd at LEAST give me a lunch date, right? LOL

Funny thing though, I've sent follow up emails to women, and HAVE gotten responses...though some of the responses were "Thank sfor emailing, but I don't think we'd be a good match"

 

Other followups I had gotten dates with, but rare.

 

Eventually women start putting in their profiles, in a snarky way," If you emailed me, and I don't respond, PLEASE don't send me another email a week later."

 

I usually just follow up with the local ladies, considering how their options are limited to toothless, uneducated rednecks or the elderly.

 

So it's either those options or ME. :laugh:

In the last two years since my divorce, I have occasionally on a lonely night posted a dating profile - and got freaked by something, or whatever, that made me realize I was not ready to date and pulled it. It was never up for more than 5 hours. Because I realized I wasn't ready and wasn't doing anyone any favors.

 

I got a lot of messages very fast and people were very forward and rushed to meet and it freaked me out. Because I wasn't ready, sure, but I could see it freaking out any girl who is used to in real life attention. I get approached, and have, sure, but nothing like what that is.

There's this one woman, been seeing her for YEARS on POF, lives in a small township with population "nil" in it....she's cute, but she'll probably wind up a spinster.

 

I've emailed her probably 3 times in the past 3 years. lol No response...got profile views though, but never a response.

 

She doesn't have much in her ad....very generic/vanilla. But she did add "No felons or people who spent time in jail need apply."

 

I have no criminal record <shrug> go figure.

 

But it goes to show what kind of vagrants live near her.

There's a fair number of people on OLD sites who are not single and just want attention.

 

I realised pretty quickly that dating, especially from an OLD site, was not for me so I closed it quickly. Some very pushy guys out there, but there's always the block option!

 

I think I will just wait it out and see if anyone actually has the courage to ask me out in future, and if I end up an old spinster then so be it. I'd rather be a spinster than go out with perpetual singletons (you know the kind - they've been on a site for years!). *shudder*
