irc333 Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 I would say this is somewhat of a new topic, I was at a summer time BBQ at a local park, and this guy was BBQ burgers for us. He had this safari style hat on, the one allows for further protection from the sun than a typical ball cap. We were talking about outdoor wear and he said, "Yeah, I got this hat at the local REI, I like to call it my birth control hat." We got a laugh out of it. But I was wondering if some women are turned off by men who put zinc oxide on their nose while at the beach or wear something to protect themselves from the elements? Even if it means looking a little "Dorky"?
Silly_Girl Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 My boyfriend does dorky sometimes, and for me it goes full circle and becomes really hot! I love when a guy couldn't give two hoots about expectations and does his own thing.
xxoo Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 (edited) We were talking about outdoor wear and he said, "Yeah, I got this hat at the local REI, I like to call it my birth control hat." Heh, that's my favorite store. REI stuff is not dorky! I'd probably be wearing a matching hat Zinc oxide is clear these day. Also, rash guards with UV protection are in style. It helps to know what to buy, and get things that are in up to date styling and fabrics. How would you feel about a woman in like clothing? Edited July 27, 2012 by xxoo 2

I think women can get away with it. Like women can wear men's clothing, like his dress shirt or something.
FitChick Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 I don't find burnt, peeling skin attractive. There are plenty of invisible sunscreens nowadays that are not greasy. Neutrogena. When you wear one of those Aussie outback type hats, you could 'put on' a fake Aussie accent to match and she might laugh. She might laugh. You won't be wearing it all the time. I hate baseball caps on anyone and have to stifle a laugh when a man wears one backwards.
veggirl Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Well if my BF did that I'd be like aww he's so funny and cute but if I saw some random dude I'd be like ...okay. Wouldn't give it a 2nd thought but wouldn't be attracted to it...I'd prob think he was a goofball.
Mme. Chaucer Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Really, outdoor gear (REI, NorthFace, Columbia, Sierra Trading Co, Patagonia, Back Country) IS fashionable. People who don't even DO anything outside wear it because it's cool to do so. This is really old news. Of course, I live in the Pacific Northwest where fleece and Keens rule ... I'm thinking you live in some area of the country that's pretty behind the curve when it comes to trends, right? Like, you think wearing "Members Only" is hip? Be a trend setter in your local area, and avoid getting skin cancer and ugly wrinkles all at the same time. That's my advice. 1

2sure Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 I'm kind of fussy about things a man wears. I think I'm better than I used to be, and I realize it should not be that big of deal...and really, it can be too controlling or even insulting. So, if I'm considering dating someone I look carefully at what they wear, because I don't want any big surprises down the line. I don't like any kind of sandal that looks biblical and unless we are actually on a beach, no flip flops. The hat you mentioned would be out of the question, but because the guy laughed at himself...he would get a pass.
Mme. Chaucer Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 I don't like any kind of sandal that looks biblical So … this would be a deal breaker? http://www.sexyrevuecostumes.com/shop/images/mensancientromansandalsmensromangladiatorkneehighblackbrown.jpg Even if he wore a complementary robe and beard?
2sure Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 The gladiators walking around outside the collosium are always hot....but ..yeah,ok.
