Ghisop Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 So I have a friend that I have been making out with. About a month ago we talked about this just being fun with a friend. He's words not mine. I'm thinking sweet! Friends with benefits! Over the last month things have gotten way more intimate. We started having sex as well. So I guess im wondering should I listen to what he said a month ago ( I'm a firm believer in not reading to much into things and taking people at their word) or follow his actions that seem really boyfriendy and intimate
SmileFace Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 No, in this situation you listen to his words. I don't care what his actions are. Until you hear different he has already told you what he wants to be. Listen to him. Fwb are meant to mimic real relationships - that is the point . Do you expect him to treat you like sh it?
carhill Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 If the words impute a lesser and more casual acquaintance, words are his truth and likely his disclaimer. A general rule of thumb is, if words are 'negative' to one's desires and wants, trust and believe words. If 'positive', look to actions to match the words.
oaks Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 What Carhill said. I tend to think along the lines of "if words and actions don't match, then assume the 'worst case' version is the correct one."
