SnowWhite Posted July 9, 2004 Posted July 9, 2004 Do guys usually mistake sarcasm for flirting? I am generally a very sarcastic person...but when I do with it guys that I am not friends with, everyone including the guy will think that I am flirting. Then comes the end of the night out when the 'new guy' in the group will pull me aside to tell me he is interested in me too...one problem. I'm NOT interested in him at all. Do guys usually equate a girl being a sarcastic smarta@@ as flirting??
DerangedAngel Posted July 9, 2004 Posted July 9, 2004 I could see how someone would mistake it for flirting on occasion. I think. Most people, especially your friends, should be able to tell the difference. Now, from a girl's point of view, there's nothing sexier than a sarcastic man. But just because everything he says to me is dripping with sarcasm, doesn't mean I think he's interested. -Deranged
CurlyIam Posted July 9, 2004 Posted July 9, 2004 Well, when being sarcastic, you actually rephrase - enhance or deenhance - something that someone said. Most men don't listen carefully, IMO ! The'yre only picking up the signs. They see you paying attention to what they said, responding to their affirmation. Hence, they think you're interested. Sarcastic men usually put me off. Especially if they're sarcastic to the things I say. A man who would constantly pick on what everyone else would say gets on my nerves - I have show offs. On the other hand, a sharp observation or a good point made in not such an ostentative way always makes me fall for the guy! I like sharp guys!
red-rose-in-winter Posted July 9, 2004 Posted July 9, 2004 Hi SnowWhite: I just wanted to say first of all that I really like your avatar!!! I LOVE roses!!! But back to your question: In my opinion most guys DO think when you are sarcastic with them that you are interested in them, because it goes back to the old saying: "She does protest too much." They must think that you are trying to hide your "true feelings" for them by making a joke or being sarcastic.
