So you are comparing something that COULD happen? Well if you spent 5 hours watching TV, a car could smash through your living room wall and kill you.

OK, you're just trolling now. The TV would not be the cause of death and that happens to maybe one in a billion people.

Running marathons is safe, for the short term, for people that are physically fit, and practice all the correct precautions.
Wrong.

I am a huge fan of marathoners, triathletes and bicyclists (Tour De France FTW!). As a guy who can only run for 15 minutes straight max, I am in awe of that level of cardio/lower body strength. Having said that, I understand how dangerous it is and how much risk they put themselves through to achieve these feats. Anyone who has that mindset - some things are awesome enough to risk your personal comfort and endless safety for, to work ridiculously hard for no pay for (these guys make next to nothing until they win races and get corporate sponsorship) - is a champ in my book.

So who's watching the Olympics next month? :)

5 hours spent running one marathon can result in heart damage.

5 hours spent watching TV will not affect your health.

I cover marathons as a first responder; my strategy is to stand there waiting for people to drop dead. I'm not nearly as busy when people are just walking around.

A long term marathon runner will have a larger and more efficient heart, but many studies have shown they also have thicker heart valves, giving them a higher chance or a heart attack.

I partially agree with max. Damage is done to your body when running long distances. But watching TV is harmful for prolonged peroids. Your body is meant to be active. When watching TV your body is in a sedated state. Your mind and body needs activity to function correctly. Also sitting on couch and chairs for prolonged periods of time can cause spinal and flexibility problems. So no I would not reccomend watching tv or running for 5 hours. Both would be disastrous for your health.

The social status you'd get (as a male) competing at a high level would far outweigh any damage to the body. Those olympic athletes have no problem getting top quality poon.

Ok Bob Funk. So what should these guys at your gym be doing to score "entitled" american women?

All of them believe that if they just lift hard enough and deprive themselves enough that they'll eventually be able to get one of these entitled American girls to go out with them.

What no one tells you is that a gym body, while necessary, is insufficient to getting laid for guys. It's like having a nose or not being paraplegic. You aren't earning any bonus points for your 6-pack and pecs; you're just repelling girls slightly less.

Well it's good to know instead of doing bench press or squats, you decide to post here instead.

I don't think the women will come flocking at this rate.

Your reading comprehension is atrocious. What part of "at my gym" don't you understand?

Hookers and plastic surgery.

You are right I myself have worked out for years and now an a 6ft tall 210 lb guy with 8 percent bodyfat I have friends that are gods of men and put fitness models on magazines to shame weighing over 200 lbs and 5 percent bodyfat. Girls wont talk to any of us, besides morbidly obese girls. Its funny how just a average girl with a average body will be so in demand yet a man who has made his body into a sculpture more or less gets nothing more for his efforts or anything at all. There is no rhyme or reason to a girls attraction to a man.

Anything done in a stupid manner can kill you. There was a Chinese soccer fan that watched all the world cup games for 11 days without sleeping. He died.

So yes, stupid kills. But that has nothing to do with TV or marathons. It has to do with stupid.

People that run 5 hour marathons work up to it. There is a training methodology to it. Running marathons is safe, for the short term, for people that are physically fit, and practice all the correct precautions. But it could cause long term damage no matter what, like you said. But long term damage of not getting off the couch is also bad, if not worse than marathons.

So what are you arguing for again?

Or that poor old man who got squished by his tree branch from all that snow last winter...sad...was sleeping in his house and it smashed through it and got him...:(

My limited personal experience with this is that women you are actually dating will love it, but any other woman won't think all that much of it.

I know some women don't want to be bugged while using the equipment, but I usually wait until their in line at the drinking fountain, or hanging around the front desk chilling out after the work out. Best to start up a conversation with them there. :-)

It's sad, isn't it? I talked to a guy on another forum who wasted his 20's getting jacked (6'1", 220 lbs, single digit body fat). Didn't get laid until he was 29 or something, and it was with a 300 lb. girl who was using him for his money.

I still think everyguy should work out to maximize his attractiveness. But don't expect it to add more than 1 point to your 1-10 looks rating.

Also learn how to be attractive in terms of verbal skills, body language and movement (not just lifting), and generally being empathic.

How about speaking with inflection?

Yes, that can certainly help. Double entendres, and the like. Has to be subtle though, in a way that draws a woman to a more risque point in a conversation without you putting yourself out there like that straight away. She will enjoy it, it's like a game, especially when you infer that she is indeed the one reading into things .

I know what he meant, as a rap artist I have to know, especially as I'm going to be teaching people how to do it . I just moved it on from that particular point as I did not need to elaborate on speech inflection.
