Something that really freaked me out

I got a text late at night on the weekend. It said that the guy I went out with (at least over a month ago) has serious problems. I asked for more as he seemed perfectly normal. It said he has financial, health and mental problems. That he is emotionally and physically abusive and this person is his power of attorney. And went on a bit about his family. I was stunned I mean the guy was ironically very normal and friendly. I didn't see him again as he stood me up last time and didn't think much more of it. I don't know what to believe.

What's the question?

Ignore and block the number...and continue to not think much of it.

Him allegedly having power of attorney doesn't really mean sh*t in this particular situation as it relates to you...I'm not really sure why he threw that out there...

It just freaked me out why were they telling me this? I haven't seen him in ages and only did a couple of times. If apparently someone like this can seem more normal than anybody, how do I keep on dating?

A really creative way to reject you :lmao:

But why go to so much trouble creating a whole story?! Who does that?

Well as a man whose dealt with elaborate, fake stories from women who don't want to see me anymore, you'd be surprised at what lengths some will go through to stay polite and convince you their "no" has nothing to do with you. But it does.

No wonder you are so bitter.

The text was probably from his wife.

But then why even stay with a cheater? Why even bother? So odd.

It sounds like something a manipulative ex would do, so he doesn't move on.

That's what I thought too. Makes me mad I've been called crazy by exes, I don't even talk to them let alone this *hit.

My boyfriend and I can use each others mobiles if we want. Usually a google-related thing but it would be possible to get numbers off his phone if I thought he was seeing someone behind my back and vice versa.

I've never done that.

Well, no. My point is that it's not unusual to have access to someone else's phone to then be able to do something like that.

If the person contacting you were doing so in, let's say, a professional capacity they would call you and introduce themselves etc. It's most likely a wife or gf who found out he's cheating (he stood you up... maybe got found out).

I just can't believe someone would go to that much detail and that much back story. Usually you just get radio silence. I never want to see this guy again.

Sex with the ex, and then he's in the shower and she snoops his phone... it's not that improbable...

Yeah right, this never happens.

People also always lock their phones, use a different password for every online account and wear a bike helmet every single time they get on a bike.

HAHA!

I have a corporate phone & will for the foreseeable future.

It locks automatically & since it contains corporate info nobody touches it.

Period.

That's my story & i'm sticking to it. :)
