irc333 Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 I had recently seen this profile, and also knew of a female friend that had serious difficulty dating. Apparently, one thing to be concerned about when dating a single mother/father that has FULL custody of the child you can't just take off and do something. This woman in her dating profile added it as an "update" explaining that there's NO alternating weekends where the daddy gets the kid and you can't just say, "Hey, when I get off work, how about we meet for drinks", and she cant' because she has to drop the kid off at a soccer practice after school or some other child's extracurricular activities. Apparently, a lot of men have a hard time understanding this, and move on due to so many "strikes" of her being unavailable when he was. This one guy, who had been seeing this one single mother for a while, had his weekends off, and he asked to do something, but apparently she was a Cubscout Den mother and would be spending all weekend camping with other parents and kids. He suggested bringing his gear so he can hang with her, and she said that would probably not be a good idea. Apparently, she didn't think they were at that "stage" yet, but he was trying to find SOME way to spend time with her, and it was pretty much the final straw for both of them. Usually, the kids are rather young at this point when this is occurring, but does anyone feel that maybe parents shouldn't date until their kid reaches an age (high school) when THEY start dating someone, or least old enough to drive a car so they don't need that much supervision?

No of course not. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to work out that spontaneity largely goes out of the window when it comes to single parents with small children. Some people do like routine and a planned out existence, it suits them fine
