utterlyfrivolous23 Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 I'm a girl and I honestly don't see the problem with 'going dutch' aka paying for your own meals. I know plenty of girls that say that they would be mad if a guy made them pay for their meal. Apparently that makes him cheap and rude. However, I completely disagree. I'm in college so chances are that the guy I'm dating is in college too. Which means that he is taking classes like I am, probably has a crappy part-time job like I do and is living on very little like most college kids are. Basically, we're pretty much on a leveled playing field. I don't see the problem with paying for half. He worked hard for his money and so did I but because he's a guy he HAS to pay. I like the generosity and I won't object. But I feel awkward and rude for asking if I should pay for half. I feel like I'm offending him or something. I just don't understand the big deal. Maybe I'm missing something... What do you think?? 1
brahmabull117 Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Just offer to split the date and tell him that you're a girl who always likes things to be 50/50 Even if he's a traditional guy who wants to pay for everything, he'll be happy to know that you have an attitude like that. It's a win/win situation

Pyro Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 http://www.loveshack.org/forums/romantic/dating/326829-paying-dates-master-thread thank you. This thread was a train wreck waiting to happen courtesy of the usual suspects.
WonderKid Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 It varies for me. Last date I went out on we paid for ourselves. If a woman pays for our date I'll definitely have a greater way of repaying her. But I'd be upfront with her. If I don't have the money I'd tell her straight up before we go out. LoL
YellowShark Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Never understood why women demand to be equal to men EXCEPT when the bill comes. I am happy to pay but honestly, I am far more turned on by a woman who offers to share the bill than one who just sits there and looks at me like a meal ticket. 1
