Was probably going to wear a purple dress, black heels with a black cardigan maybe, but I'm wondering if I'd be more comfortable in jeans and a top say. Any ideas? It's a tricky one!

Coffee meeting? I'd go with the latter, though crisp and form-fitting, and flats or low heels. Tastefully but minimal daytime makeup. If anything, play up your eyes. You'll be talking with each other and getting reacquainted. See how things go. This presumes your style is LTR-centric.

I can't say I've observed much, if any, correlation between a guy hitting on me and what I was wearing or even talking about. ha ha

Guys who want to hit on you will... guys that don't, won't.

I dress to please myself, with something that is appropriate to the occasion, fits well (not too tight, not too loose) and complimentary colors.

I've got a rather eclectic style though... to suit my mood. Have got a little of everything in my closet.

So, I'd say dress to suit your personality and what expresses you.

IMHO, dating is about finding a match and doing your best to be your most authentic self anyway.

If you want some other style options though, there are some decent stylists at the higher end stores. Spend an hour or two with one, and they will give you a better sense of how to walk the line between attractive/sexy and trampy for your body type.

Alot of it depends on your body type. Something that looks understated and elegant on a thin, smaller breasted woman (for instance) looks trampy and practically x-rated on a larger breasted woman. Same goes for booti-licious gals. Sometimes its best to wear a skirt vs any kind of pants if you don't want to draw attention to that.

Anyway, it's all about balance and proportion. And leaving something to the imagination. :)

Well I suppose I'd dressed a bit more like what you'd said i.e dark red v kneck top, black 'slim' trousers and black heels. Went very well but then found out he was MARRIED, so obviously it was just for a catch up. Especially as later in the conversation he confessed about a dilemma he had re having feelings for one of his wife's friends and thinks there is mutual chemistry between them, although nothing has happened. He also said that he was planning to seperate from his wife, most likely (if he does it) early next year when they had planned to move house. Not surprisingly, I am a little (ok much) disappointed. I enjoyed chatting with him though discussing our hopes and fears though. It is left that we will meet again sometime soon e.g go for a walk, but obviously it'll just be as friends as things are complicated with him. I also wonder if he doesn't find me that attractive (even though he complimented my photo on Facebook as being quite striking) if he mentioned this friend of his wife's he is v attracted to! God, what a mess.:(

When choosing an outfit for an event, it is always helpful to understand the audience.

Obviously, the outfit of hopeful 'other woman' has to be chosen very carefully. How to look like a 'friend' while looking just sexy enough to entice married man with questionable morals into affair is a tough call.:mad:

But back to the topic... Men's behavior and choices are their own responsibility. What a woman wears or doesn't wear has no bearing on it. Yes, she bears some responsibility for the impression she leaves. No doubt about that. However, it is all on HIM how he conducts himself. No matter what her outfit is.
