startinganew777 Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Hi everyone, I am almost 5'10" and have an apple body shape. Very long skinny legs and arms and I carry most of my weight in my waist area. I can't stand my body, clothes just don't fit right on me. Especially jeans because I have no hips. I recently starting losing weight, have been running for 2 months and started going to the gym. But I am afraid of getting too skinny. I gained some weight over the years and finally had a butt and boobs but now that I am losing weight, yes, my stomach is shrinking but so is my butt and my chest. Overall I feel a lot better and healthier, just don't want to get too skinny but I feel like my body will be better porportioned if I do lose even more weight. I am at 148 now, was at 160. What can I do maybe to build up my legs and butt while still lose in the tummy area? I have chicken legs and just don't want them to get any skinner. Any tips for my body shape?
brahmabull117 Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Squats, deadlifts, legpress and then train your calves a ton Do this twice a week, work out very hard with challenging weights and with good form. Try to eat a diet high in protein and make sure you eat enough calories to build muscle
pink_sugar Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 I have hips and have this problem. When I get pants that fit my waist and hips, the legs swim on me. I would be nice to have smaller hips so I could weigh less around the waist.
Author startinganew777 Posted July 10, 2012 Author Posted July 10, 2012 Would it be best to lose more weight and then work on my core, stomach, ect? Trying to shrink my waist. Thanks

Thanks You can't lose weight from a specific area, you lose from everywhere. Weight training and lots of core exercises will give you shape rather than allow your body to get too skinny. You will need to work on your legs and bum as a poster suggested and you will also need to work on your upper body including the shoulders to balance you out. Do research on compound weight training to gain a better understanding of this.
FitChick Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Don't do any weighted oblique work. I see so many women who have a straight up and down trunk instead of a sexy nipped in waist because of it. They also build up their abs from doing crunches. Just do planks.
