Then a female friend told me beards are "too scruffy" for her liking. So is it just these ladies? Or just overall preference that a man be clean shaven? Can facial hair become just too much and be a deal breaker when considering a potential mate? Curious what the women here think is and isn't attractive regarding this.

I dont date men with facial hair......my friend however thinks its sexy its probably fifty fifty....personal preferences......everybody looks for something different.... you should have what you are comfortable with.....deb

Whereas my face without it looks slightly younger. Some girls dig the beard (especially the religious chicks ). Most prefer me without it though, so I've been told. I do look better without it, I just can't be bothered to buy a trimmer, I wait till I go to the barbers. 1
carhill Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 I've been uniformly told that my beard is 'painful', the largest volume of that from my exW simply due to the length of our M. The only exception was when I grew it out long, but I found that annoying and time-consuming, more so than shaving. So, absent periods like right now, where I don't care what women think about it, I'm clean-shaven daily.

But clean shaven (with no stubble) I think I look about ten. ------ Seems it may really be 50/50 as todreaminblue stated. Or this far.

runner Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 not sure i get more attention with the hair or without. seems about even i guess. i can tolerate the shadow for about....5 seconds, and then i get irritated with it.

I love beards, I love scruffy faces, I basically love men that look like men. But in talking to my friends, I would say more like clean shaven men. Maybe like a 60/40 split. 1
mortensorchid Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Men with facial hair are a turnoff for me. It indicates they do not care much about their appearances to bother to shave (although a few days' growth is not that bad). Quite honestly, if you are clean shaven it makes you look younger.

Fine if you aren't attracted to men with facial hair to each their own. Where do you get that men with facial hair don't care for their appearance?? I have a goatee right now and it takes MORE WORK than shaving because you have to keep it strait on the sides, edge it up above the lip and trim it. Mine is a very well groomed one it's not like some big biker goatee I use a #1 with a clipper when I trim it.

Silly_Girl Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 I adore facial hair and my ex-boss is the only man I've met so far in real life who was less attractive with facial hair. I think it's a question of getting it right, trimming it well etc. I like the definition it gives to a man's face, and it feels nice too. I have friends who couldn't care less, and some friends who HATE facial hair, so I think those of us who love it are in the slight minority. But do take older folks' views with a pinch of salt as there is a generational thing about it and their opinions probably won't match those of the girls you're trying to date.

Be a freaking self-made man for a change and **** what these women on Loveshack or anywhere else have to say. It's all about what you like; not about their preferences. Once you have that understood, you won't ever go wrong in any situation. 1
MrCastle Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Facial hair works for some and not for others. I can't pull facial hair off. Just doesn't look right on me. Clean shaven and shadow works for me. I think shadow looks more rugged.
