my boyfriend of 12 years broke up with me about 3 months ago. We had a house and four cats and two dogs. I had to move out and took the 2 dogs and 2 cats. our break up was not very clean. He did some pretty crappy stuff to me and I have a lot of anger towards him. We Have had to have contact for the past three months and after the 16th we have no reason to have contact anymore and I want to go NC. He's told me several times that he wants to be able to see the dogs every now and then. I feel like you get rid of me you get rid of the dogs. I don't want to see him and i kinda feel like this is a way for him to keep tabs on me. we agreed I get the dogs so I feel like it should be my choice if he gets to see them. I'm just a little worried because we share a giant chunk of mutual friends so we Will always be in eachnothers lives so i don't want to piss him off to bad. Do I ha ve to let him see them?

The dogs may miss him. They may feel he abandoned them. I think you should let the dogs spend time with him, but let someone else be there to let him in. Make it so that you do not have to see him.

No... I wouldn't. For now you need to work on getting over the relationship, and he doesn't get to get the cake and eat it too.

It's your dogs, no reasons to let him into you life, he made his decision, now he's got to go with the consequences.

Piss him off, who cares? It's your life now; if your mutual friends drop your friendship over a story of dogs and can't understand your wishes not to be in contact with him, are they really your friends?

If one day you feel you're over him, then maybe. But then again, do you imagine yourself with a new guy, happy, and your dam ex ringing you about the dogs?...
