I just bought my co-worker a watch for $150. Last week she saw my watch and as a joke she was like when are u buying me a watch. I really like her a lot...since our work shedule doesnt match I haven't seen her for a while. I was thinking to put the watch in her locker as a surprise. She knows I like her.

I'm just nervous if she doesn't like the watch or me

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Don't give it to her, if she is worth her salt she will return it back to you if you give it to her.

Sorry, but expensive gifts to coworkers like that come with strings attached and she will know this.

Your gift is inappropriate. It will make her feel uncomfortable. Return it to the store.

Instead of giving her this gift, ask her to have coffee with you. Then you can get to know her better. However, if she turns you down, you must accept that gracefully.

Send it to me.

I'll show you what happens next.;)...

That's highly inappropriate. Yeah maybe if it was said jokingly and you bought her a $5 kids watch based on something she likes or something, but $150??? That's going to make you look desperate and crazy.

Also, I noticed you're now leaving out the part about her having a boyfriend. She's taken. Accept it and move on.

Hey Tara, what happens next?

Her parents are really strict what ever money she makes her parents keep it and only give her like $30. And she wanted to buy a watch for a long time. And I dont mind spending $150

You have 3 people on this thread advising you that the gift is not apporpiate and to not give it to her and you have nobody advising you to give it to her..

It is a horrible idea, she is a coworker...

The gift comes with the strings that if she accepts she becomes more than a coworker to you and that is unacceptable behavior in a work environment.

Then.. on the other hand.. maybe the only way for you to learn is for you to give the gift to her and be prepared for what might happen after you do...

So that is an excuse to act inappropriately with a coworker ?

I hope for your sake that she loves it..

Wait...how old are you? If her parents still have a say so in her money, I'm guessing pretty young. Which is even more reason for this to be inappropriate. Even speaking as a twenty-something female, I would be highly uncomfortable if a coworker gave me a gift that as worth more than like $25.

She has a boyfriend, you are coworkers, you are young. All are reasons against it. I don't see any reasons for it. I don't really see the point of asking advice on here if youre just going to argue back to it. So, do what you want I guess.

I agree with others that it's not appropriate to give a co-worker an expensive watch out of the blue for whatever reason. You aren't dating the woman and, for all we know, she may not like you in that way.

I think you need to ask her out and get to know her. Giving her this watch would be a lovely thing to do once you are in an established - and I mean established - relationship with her.
