Or do you try to play it cool and play hard to get?

I don't understand why someone would talk to you alot then sort of distancing themselves from you by replying late. Like when I exchange emails with this guy, the first few days we would exchange mail 3-5 times a day. Then it's once everyday, then now it's like every other day.

Is he doing this because he wants the chase? Or simply just busy?

He said he really likes me and compliments me but wants to be friends first cause he just got out of a relationship a month ago

Thoughts?

I don't wanna waste time.. Idk if I'm just being paranoid or clingy.. but is it normal to send late replies ? Like 1-2 days to reply?

Often times the conversations slow as you get to know each other because well...you have less to talk about. If you want more, initiate them. Texting/email can be read as friendly or more...but it's more about the content than the number of them.

I'd say this is your answer:

My guess is he'd like to slow things down.

If that's okay with you, cool your jets a bit and match his speed.

To answer your question...

Yes, even when into the person, I'll sometimes take a day to respond as some email requires more reflection.

If you'd like more contact/closeness/expressiveness, it may be more than he can/wants to give right now.

Nothing wrong with that. It's just different.

Decide what you'd like, and move in that direction.

It's all about compatibility after all, and you mentioned not wanting to "waste your time."

Good luck!
