This is mainly for the guys:

Say you added a girl on FB for the first time and she has about 50 pictures of herself with her cat (either cat alone or a combination of girl and cat). Also, they are most recent pictures too.

Would you be turned off?

I have 100's of pics of my cats, and a fair amount have made on my FB page.

I'd be like WTF is with this damn cat!

I have to admit, I find it a little strange that people are obsessively close to their animals...but that's because I'm not an animal guy myself, not to that extent, I like learning about them and all that, I even like the damn zoo but I won't buy a chihuahua and buy matching outfits and take FB pics all over town.

But seeing you post here often here, It's different because I don't think you're that weird ;)...so I'm not a good judge of that.

I'd just think she love her cat alot. Now if we started dating and I had no place in her attention, then it would be a problem.

I would presume she likes cats. If it was the same cat, less worries than if 50 different cats ;)

More worrisome would be if the relationship with the cat supplanted those with other people.

I think too many pictures with one thing (whatever it is) is a little weird. I love animals, used to work with them and lived in a very wild part of Africa so I suppose to me the boundary between humans and animals is very clear. I never understand why people call cats or dogs their babies. Or refer to themselves as their mummy or daddy.

If I saw a man's fb page with lots of photos of himself with his cats or dogs I would be concerned that he had some needs he wasn't able to fill with his own species.

If it's a lot of pictures of a cat, I don't think I would care. If it was a lot of pictures of a lot of cats, I would steer clear.

I am very allergic to cats.

Just asked Hubby. Hubby is allergic, so he would steer clear probably, but if it was a dog or he wasn't allergic, he said he'd be impressed. :) Then again, he has about 200 pics of his dog on his FB. Seriously.

I never look at anyone's FB pics, personally.

My one dog is currently my facebook avatar, so to me that would be normal. I couldn't date someone that wasn't an animal person. ;-) I have probably...close to 100 pictures of just her on there, starting from when she was a puppy across the pond to when she was imported to the US and then my life togther with her now and all of our activities that we do together.

Then again, I would probably bet that most people don't do A dog sport, let alone many dog sports like I do :-P

Most of my FB friends are just as into dogs as I am (if not more so), so most of their pictures are of their dogs, too.

When people say they don't like kids and animals, I wonder what's wrong with them.

<3 <3 German Shepherds <3 <3 My next dog (whenever that is) will *hopefully* be a German working lines shepherd. I was going to get a Czech Shepherd, but I honestly think they'd be too much for me to handle.

Pitties I also love, but more in an, "I love to admire them from afar," kind of way.

I don't understand. You don't look at photos of people you are friends with on facebook?

I had a german shepard when I was growing up. She was the smartest dog ever.

When we moved, we had to give her away to some friends. During the first night away (we were still at the old place), she ran away from her new place and walked back to us. It was 5kms walk and she seemed to just sense her way through. My parents still didn't keep her though :(

I have a soft spot for all animals

I save pictures there for myself, mainly. If anyone's turned off by my having four dogs, and at least one cat, then it's all the better for me that they don't even try it on in the first place. There would be no ditching of pets for someone, no putting up with, "ew, you let that thing sleep on your bed?" etc.

But in some of your avatar pictures lately, you appear to be dangling the kitten in strange positions. This might be concerning to some.

4 dogs, that's beyond phenomenal

I hope they're not all small girly dogs though. Have at least 1 Lab, German, Pitbull, Rotty, Boxer or Akita or something in there

 They are beagle/cocker mixes. One looks a little like an Australian Shepard, Walt a blue-tick coonhound, and he would take exception to being called a girly-dog. They're lovable, and fun, and I wouldn't be without them.

I used to have Springer Spaniels - I  that breed - and in the past, a Lab, Cocker spaniels, a Silky (briefly) and a Shepard/Collie mix.

This, holy cow, this

I love kids and animals. Though i'm more of a dog guy, I love pitbulls and german shepherds :)

I love kids too! But if I had lots pictures taken with a lots of different kids, I don't think women would react so well!

Pet lovers understand other pet lovers. If a guy loves his pet, it tells me he is a loving, kind person capable of thinking about something other than himself.

I think it's important to show photos of your pets because if someone is not an animal lover or is allergic, they won't contact you.

He pretty much lets me do what I want with him. He completely relaxes when I pick him up.

Anyway, I spoil him so much that taking a few pictures is a small price to pay

I can't wait to get my first house. I'm going to have at least 2 dogs (probably a pitbull and a german Shepherd)

Please think about getting a rescued, retired racing greyhound. They are gorgeous, sleek animals who are very sweet-tempered. Two of my friends have them. Thousands of these beauties are killed every year for no other reason than they are not making money at the track.

Contrary to popular belief, they don't need a lot of exercise. They are sprinters. One friend has a big back yard and his greyhound just runs circles around his other dogs for a few minutes and then she sleeps most of the day.

You can foster a dog before adopting to get a sense of them and to match them with your other dogs.

Some people have never had pets. I dated a man who said he didn't like cats but admitted he'd never been around them because his mother never liked them. When he met my cats (since deceased) he said he hardly noticed they were there because they were so quiet, my house didn't smell like cat piss and everything wasn't covered with cat hair. He actually grew to like them because they were so lovable and friendly.

He decided it was dogs that he didn't like!

I dunno, for me if a guy has pets, he automatically goes up in my eyes.

I don't have a strong preference for dogs vs cats. I like both, but because I don't have a big yard, I felt like my living conditions would be more suitable for a cat.
