what do you look like? brown or black hair? tall or short? how to you dress? do you put effort into your apprearance or just throw on a t shirt?

Why do you ask?

Not usually. The blonde thing is a myth in my opinion. The guys who like blondes are just more vocal about it IMO, for some strange reason. I always notice a guy who likes blondes because they always say they like blondes. The ones who don't say anything are the ones who, like me, don't really care. That's the difference really.

Give me a woman with jet black hair and some curves .

Maybe they're more vocal I don't know. I've had both, guys who explicitly say they find blondes to be the most attractive and guys who don't say it but only point out blondes as the hot girls.

Apparently blonde girls do get hit on more, than brunettes (these are the findings from research; that is if memory does not fail me). Redheads end up last.

Brunettes Are More Attractive, Study Shows - YouBeauty.com

that study is worth nothing, it's not even a study lol it's ONE woman changing colors.

The article however does say this:

We’re guessing you’ve heard all the hype about blondes. Often, studies on hair color show that they’re rated more attractive, younger and healthier than darker-haired damsels (even though 90 percent of the world’s population is brunette). They’re also more likely to rake in a higher salary and tend to marry richer.

Do you honestly tell the men you meet that your hair color is fake on the first meeting?

Interesting.......maybe blondes elicit more of a vocal response from those who like them?? I don't know.

Anyway, I wouldn't put too much stock into it, seeing as there are lots of men who don't care if a girl has blue hair, much less blonde. (Interestingly, I have an old female friend from primary school, who had blue hair for a while, and she's strikingly hot, like model hot )

I do, yes. But a blonde with a same degree on attractiveness will get more.

Oh stop with that talk. I bet you're a hot bitch when it comes down to it ;)

Having been both extremes, I've noticed a difference. My natural color is very dark brown, almost black. My current color for the last two years is blonde. I can pull off both looks, since I have a very light complexion. The difference is not in the amount of attention you get from men, but the type of attention. I've always been approached by men and gotten attention from them, and still do, even at middle age, and even though I am married. The difference is, when I was a brunette, men would approach me with a more serious determination and talk to me in a more serious way, trying to pick me up at the grocery store or wherever. As a blonde, men talk to me in a more light and easy going way, almost happier and more exhuberant, more gregarious. I've noticed a definate difference. Men took me more seriously when I was a brunette. They still approach as much as they used to, but it's a different type of approach, and I'd have to say from experience that they think blondes have looser morals than brunettes. Two men propositioned me with money for sex in the past year. I can safely say that has never happened as a brunette. So I got attention with both colors, but it's a different type of attention definately.

I prefer dark hair on both men and women (not that I make it a point to do so; it just happens that all the guys I've had a major thing for had dark hair. Likewise, most of the women I think are 'beautiful' have dark hair.)

I still like lighter colors, though, but somewhere from medium brown or dirty blond that leans toward brown to dark brown. I don't tend to like just very blond hair and blue eyes, even if the former is natural.

If I hear a guy say that he has a thing for blondes, it automatically reduces my opinion of him in a way that is, I know, very unfair. lol.

I know smart, cool, easygoing blondes, both male and female; I just have an unfair bias against them.

i dyed my hair years ago, it looked great i got tons of complements, it was a very light brown, almost blonde, it match my olive skin and worked great with brown eyes. sort of like Jessica alba, beyonce. but now i can stand the thought of light hair. i love my dark hair, i wont ever put chemicals in my hair again.

peroxide on anyone

my whole life ive only seen less then 5 people that managed the bleached look.

p.s. I'm Asian and have never colored my hair. It's always been black. And even though, as stated in my previous post, I *like* dark hair, I do envy women who can play with colors more. Reddish brown, light brown, dark brown, dirty blonde, etc. I think it's cool when women change it up; it really does change a person's whole 'vibe' sometimes.

That's true. My hair is naturally dark too and lighter colors don't suit me. There is an Asian girl in a store I always go to who has dark red hair, it actually suits her very well. Maybe you can try that once but don't go for light hair.

In Sweden you are not going to get an extra attention just because you have a blond hair if you get my point.

I wouldn't mind gorgeous dark red hair. I've never wanted to be a blonde. I'm trying to remember who I read a quote from - a pretty brunette who said, "blondes don't have more fun. trust me." or something like that...

Ok I know guys are going to come to this thread and say they prefer brunettes or women are going to say they are brunettes and they get a lot of love...I'm not saying as a brunette you don't get anything but blonds are the ones who seem to catch men's attention first and foremost. I say this from observing guys and their reactions to women in bars, on the street etc and from talking to many guys. Some of my guy friends think a girl is automatically hot if she is blond. It seems to me like a lot of guys regard them as a prize and getting a blond girl is a status/ego boost for them. Of course if a woman is very overweight or has an ugly face, blond hair is not going to help her much. But if she has light features and can pull the blond look off, this might be it for catching men's attention!

Oh... go blond... I glanced at the title of this thread and thought it was go blind... at least if your house is a mess, your blind date won't know it. :lmao:

I've always preferred brunettes, but I've seem some very pretty blondes ;)

Isn't blonde a rare gene? That's probably the reason for the attention. That and blonde women tend to look very feminine IMHO.

One question for the ladies, I know a few brunettes that have bleached their hair.

Why does it look soooo dry after a few months?

One girl was really attractive and dyed it really, really blonde. Not it looks like straw. She was much better as a brunette.

I agree. If I were a person who could play with my hair color, I think a reddish brown would be amazing...

But you have such shiny, silky blonde hair! Why do you speak out against your own kind so?:p

Doesn't mean I'm happy.

I've had a myriad of different coloured hair! I've been bleach blonde, blue-black and everything in between. The only difference I noticed was in clubs and walking down the street when builders are present. I used to get the wolf-whistles and the 'can I buy you a drink?' But honestly I find it the wrong kind of attention. I basically became a sex object. I didn't like it much, male attention makes me feel uncomfortable.

Now I prefer my natural colour (dark auburn) because I look less porn-star and more 'respectable'.

BUT now I'm newly single I want to go bleach blonde again... but it's so much money and it always DESTROYS my hair. (I have spent the last year getting it back into condition)

Peroxide. She doesn't go to hairdressers but bleaches her hair at home and doesn't treat it properly. That pretty much ruins it usually.

There are quite a few guys out there who are very into light blonde/ big boobs look.

Those are the type that I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole.

I think that attention I get as a brunette is less overtly sexual. Or maybe I am just losing sex appeal with age.

I'm a natural brunette (light brown, sort of that indeterminate color), but finally decided to get blond highlights a couple of years ago. Not platinum-blond, but more of a honey-blond. I grew up in the sunshine state, so this is kind of what my hair looked like naturally as a kid.

I like it, it suits my skin tone and it reminds me of home. Makes my eyes look a bit bluer too, which is always nice. :) I find it cheerful, I guess.

But I don't notice any particular difference in male attention. Same dudes who shout things from the street corners still be shouting; same general quotient of "heeyyyyy".

I am a natural blond, however. People do notice it because it's unusual (well, a little less unusual with the help of bottles nowadays). I've had several people approach me over the years - some actually reaching out to touch my hair - as they inquire, "Oh my God, are you a REAL blonde? It looks real."

They act like they've just found the Holy Grail. Mine's a medium/golden blond, so it probably commands more attention than the folks who have darker blond hair.

I also have the features to go with it: pale skin and blue eyes.

I would say from first glance, blond hair probably gets more attention just because it's bright and kind of showy compared to darker hair. But when it comes down to it..I know a LOT of men who prefer women with dark hair, just as I know a lot of men who prefer women with blonde hair.

If your features aren't going to complement blond hair...DON'T dye your hair.

I think being blonde is rare into adulthood. When I was a little girl, I had really blond hair. As I got older, it got darker. I think that happens to a lot of people. My hair dresser says I have dark blond hair but to me, it looks brown at the roots. I color it. *shrug* I think I look better with blond hair. It matches my skin tone and I got light eyebrows. Lighter then the roots of my hair.

Bleach dries hair out. It's really really hard on hair. Especially the darker a girl's hair is, the harder it is to get it to that light tone. They also may be doing the bleach jobs themselves and not have all the products a salon might use to condition their hair after doing something like bleaching it.

I've seen some girls that are naturally brunette go blond and it doesn't always work. Brunette hair can be really pretty. But sometimes you want what you don't have.
