no_clue Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 Ive always wondered what is the appropriate use of terms of endearment, and when beginning a relationship you can say this or that like baby, sexy, beautiful. Since idk I usually throw it around as a test to get a reaction sometimes girls like when I call them mama or boo and call me pet names back or sometimes they dont say nothing. What about a stranger u met at a gas station or online is it ok to tell them they are pretty and how often should u say these sort of things. Ive also noticed if you say it a little more than usual it might even be annoying but if u dont say it enough u may seem distant.
ThaWholigan Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 I have never really used terms of endearment. I usually just call someone by their name. Sometimes I have a way of saying it that makes it sound sexier than normal, but I do that for my own amusement. If I have known someone for a long time, then I will generally call them by a nickname, either generic or unique to that person.

Honestly, when a new guy calls me baby- I figure he has forgotten my name- or if we are on the phone and he is around people- he might not want to use my name cause he has other women friends and he doesnt want his family/kids to know. It seems a bit sleezy. Now if you want to tell me I look sexy/hot tonight after dating awhile- that is great. Not ok for someone at the gas station. I guess it would be ok if a guy said you look nice- going soem place special?
Ross MwcFan Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 I'd really like it if a woman stranger called me, beautiful, sexy, whatever. But unfortunatley it's only happened once, when a woman who was cutting my hair called me 'lovely'.
veggirl Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 I dont like it at the beginning. After we are in a relationship it's fine, but before that it rings false and seems like forced intimacy to me. My bf will call me babe sometimes but I don't really call him any pet names. I'd be turned off if some guy I'd only gone on a few dates with was calling me babe or honey or whatever.
SmileFace Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 Things like this really should not make a difference. I don't think pet names people give have any bearing on their level of attraction. It can be easy way out or some one is just comfortable with using a pet name.
