Before I started seeing the latest weirdo [look in BU section] I went out on date with an older guy. I liked him and it went well. But he seemed to think his 35 years was too old for my 25 years. I was like really? He messaged me about he was staying at his parents beach house to get away. Then unfortunately I never heard from him again. I was really disappointed.

I mean my friends bf is about the same age and their relationship has out lasted any that I've had.

Some might feel uncomfortable due to society but it is all about how much you let others rule your life so no, not necessarily.

I don't think age affects relationship duration but rather the personalities involved.

I agree but I didn't think it was it was like he was 45 or something.

It is so rare to find a good connection I wouldn't care about the age and would hope she wouldn't mind either but if it was a good connection she wouldn't care anyway.

No its not. Hell I am planning on getting with this hot cougar and its more than 10 years difference.

I can't see that age spread alone being a deal breaker. Something else was probably up. Maybe he was looking for an 18 year old. :p

This type of vocabulary right here shows your youth. Interjecting nonsense terms such as "I was like" and "I mean" which add nothing to a sentence shows tremendous immaturity and he might have seen that the relationship was not going to go anywhere when a girl of 25 was still speaking as a girl of 15 would...

It all depends on the person. He obviously felt so and that's all that matters.

10 years older for me would be a deal breaker right now. 10 years younger would put me in jail.

When I'm 35 if I'm still looking I don't think 25 would be too young. It would be close to my cutoff though unless the woman displayed exceptional maturity.

He probably didn't like you for other reasons and put the blame on age to make you feel less bad.

Oh please. Women over 30 talk like that ALOT. It's a total lie to act as if older women don't have immature vocabulary as younger women.

Then why contact me weeks after and talk about staying at the beach? Why even bother?

I'm pretty tried and it's after 2 am here, having trouble sleeping.

Yer just gonna have to live with the fact that you'll never know why.

He probably wants to have sex but doesn't see you as relationship material.

Because people are never certain and they want things both ways. He wanted you but felt he shouldn't due to age.

Weird. I had even older guys [40+] contact me through the dating site [i rejected them].

I don't know any guys IRL who are in their 30s who date 10 years younger.

There is a pretty big difference (or should be!) between 25 and 35 maturity and life experience-wise imo--I wouldn't have dated a 35 yr old man when I was 25. At 29, I wouldn't date a 39 yr old, either.

I wonder though why did he contact you to even start with if THAT was the problem? Surely your age was visible? Kinda leads me to believe that wasn't the real issue?

I don't see a problem with a 42 year old guy dating a 32 year old woman. It's quite common where I live.

Me too! I'm 23 year old and I've dated 33 year old and up.

Age has never been an issue with any of them. Why? Because we shared the same goals, same experiences, same interests.

IME, it's all about balance and compatibility. In relationships, I think you don't have to be on the same age, you just have to be on the same page. It's not about having someone that is close to your age, it's about having someone that you can connect with.

Not for me, I'm almost 31 and I'd have no issue dating somebody who was 20. Hell, if a cute 18 year old was into me, I'd go for it.

Lots of girls your age get some kind of weird validation that they are 'mature' because older men want to get with them. Not sure what they think it is getting them except... used up. It is a good thing you passed on the 40+ men... unless you want someone to boss you around and tell you what to do. Is that your idea of a relationship? That's what alot of them have in mind... which is why they go for the younger ones. Easier to manipulate.

I'd say you dodged a bullet. Most men I know who are looking for a LTR with and 'equal' want women close to their own age (+/- five years).

The ones who are looking much younger or much older have issues or are just looking for sex. Just my observation.

Yes, I do believe 10 years is 'much older'... especially for someone your age.

Did he know how old you were before you went on the date?

If he did, then maybe he is just using your age as an excuse. Maybe he just didn't like you. I don't think 10 years is a big difference at all.

If he didn't know your age, how did you guys meet? Was it online?

I do seem to recall you had issues dating women 10 years older than you though.

So, lets not confuse things. Lots of men claim to be 'age blind' when it is the man who is older.
