Did I just break up for a problem that's in my head?

We were together for a year he told me he wanted to marry me and loved me like no other girl before. His mother pulled me to the side and told me to not worry abut where his heart was because he told her he wanted to marry me and he never had that conversation with her ever before. I already know it was wrong but i looked on his web history and found that he was googling for ENGAGEMENT RINGS?! about 6 months before we were together. I ended things and when he called me asking why i asked "If i were to talk to one of your exs and ask if you said you wanted to marry them would they say that was true?" he replied "yeah" and then when i said "ok, so you wanted to marry one of your exs?" and then he replied "NO i was saying yea like yeah? continue." Which didn't make sense because i was clearly done with the question and it was a yes or no question. Now i'm thinking that I was the rebound girl and even though he denies thinking about marriage before me is there a chance that it's more than it seems?

I don't think it's in your head, but I think it isn't as big of a deal as you are making it into.

 

So what if he was thinking about marrying one of his exes? He obviously never did it.

 

His feelings about people he dated before you has nothing to do with your relationship with him.

 

And if he said he loved you like no other girl before, did his actions back that up? Was he loving to you? Respectful of you? Trying to meet your needs? Showing and telling you he loved you?

 

If so, you probably had a good guy. Even if he thought he loved another girl enough to Google engagement rings.

Yeah, I understand but it's the fact he lied and would make it such a big deal that he never thought about marrying someone else. It hurts because he would go out of his way to tell me that all the time, it feels like i can't trust him.
