BrittanyT Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Soooo my bf texted me from work, and asked if I mind if he goes fishing tonight with his friends. ( they both are gay ) I have met and hung out with them, and they are awesome. He actually gave me a time. 4-9pm which was odd to me. There was a rumor before I met my bf that he had "been" with one of the guys. I asked him and he said no way, they are just friends. Am I just thinking to much into this? Maybe it is just an innocent fishing trip, besides they DO fish. Although my bf does not have a license and has not been in forever:o
Philosoraptor Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 I think you're thinking too much into this. Do you trust your boyfriend? If so that's more than enough. If he doesn't have a desire for them it doesn't matter how much they'd like to be the fish to his worm.
Feelin Frisky Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Gay men fishing? How much do faith do you place on the rumor. I can see your reason for concern. But...make sure you check for some fillets in a plastic bag with no price sticker on it.

Author BrittanyT Posted May 30, 2012 Author Posted May 30, 2012 lol yes they DO fish, they have brought over the fish they caught before to grill. SO I know its legit. I think I am just thinking to much into it. And I still have that rumor in my head. AND YES- manup- he asks me out of respect. not asking for "permission".

But...make sure you check for some fillets in a plastic bag with no price sticker on it. Gay fishing trip? That just sounds fishy (no pune intended). Bunch of gay guys alone in nature...hummmm! Do you suspect in any way that he can be gay? There are still a lot of closeted gays out there even today.

SmileFace Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Based on her original post, it's pretty clear that the gentleman in question is bisexual. What exactly gives you that impression?
dasein Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 lol yes they DO fish, they have brought over the fish they caught before to grill. SO I know its legit. In that light, would probably take him at his word. However, would like to hear more about the rumor also.

IDK if it wasn't for that rumour, you would be over reacting. Test him out in bed tonight and see if he is as up for action as normal.

I didnt know heterosexuals werent allowed to have friends who were homosexual without people questioning their sexual orientation. I guess we should shun homos then huh? Its 2012 people. Grow up. My dad is as masculine as they come and loves women, but had a good friend who was gay when I was growing up. He passed away some time ago and my dad spoke at his funeral. Uh oh...is my dad a homo now because he said something friendly about his gay friend at his passing? 1
irin Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 i think the fact that he asked you if he could go was a bit weird!
zengirl Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Is there some actual REASON you feel you have something to worry about it? Some feeling or sign? Or have you dated closeted gay men before or something? I mean, Hubby has gay friends, but such an idea would never occur to me. That said, I have known gay men who were closeted and had girlfriends or even wives that they fooled for ages because they didn't want to admit their sexuality to themselves due to societal pressures, so it does happen (more rare now I'd hope), I guess, but it seems an unlikely thing to worry about. Generally, I'd say an errant rumor is not cause for concern, as people spread all kinds of stuff.
Feelsgoodman Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 What exactly gives you that impression? Why would there be rumours about this guy being intimate with one of his gay "friends" if he wasn't gay/bisexual himself? And why would he, when asked about doing it with the gay dude, reply that they are just friends...instead of saying that he is not attracted to men? Besides, the whole thing about going on a fishing tip with two gay guys is more than a little odd. Hanging out with a mixed company that happens to have a few gays in it is one thing...but going to an isolated place with two gay companions is something else. Not many straight men would feel comfortable doing that.
Feelsgoodman Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 That said, I have known gay men who were closeted and had girlfriends or even wives that they fooled for ages because they didn't want to admit their sexuality to themselves due to societal pressures, so it does happen (more rare now I'd hope) It actually happens more frequently than people think (i.e. the current president of the Unites States is, without a doubt, a closeted homosexual). Some men want both, the appearance of respectability that comes with having a traditional family andy gay sex to satisfy their homosexuals desires. Why come out of the closet when they can have both?
kaylan Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Why would there be rumors you ask? Because homophobic toolbags assume that anyone who hangs out with a homosexual must be one too. Thats how rumors start. And rumors by idiot homophobes is why many straight men and women avoid hanging out with same sex homosexual folk. 1

If not then you have no worries. Most rumors are started by morons and one like that was obviously started by some idiotic homo-phobe. 1
yongyong Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 This is why I can't hang out with gays. American people are disgusting because of their 'double standards' I politely say 'I don't hangout with gays' and I get bashed about my personality. If they see me hanging out with a gay guy (drinking coffee together, watching football game together, riding bike together, jut like when you hangout with a straight guy) , would they say 'oh he is gay friendly guy, seems like a nice guy' or would they say 'geez, that guy must be a gay too' and think about nasty things 2 dudes might do?
